Profanity.......
OK, I'm no prude, but it still smacks my sensibilities to see profanity posted on a public message board site. I hate to do it but I guess I need to put filters in place to keep that crap from showing up. That sort of thing can get websites filtered out of network firewalls.

Will this include nudity ? My doctor said that at 93 I need stimulation.
And I was the one who used the "pizz" word in defending GentleBen .I feel lower than frog scum (sort a ) (well, not really)
Us elders don't have a lota time left to be rowdy.

Eh, you're not alone...if you recall my statement regarding someones head on fire?
I know what Rich means about profanity, but lets get real. Some things in life are just part of life. If a "Child" is here long enough to READ the forum, then they are there long enough for you and I to make sure they don't
Teenagers can probably (unfortunately) teach all of us a thing or 2
As far as censoring "general use" language, I'm not a real fan of that. Too much like another national forum
A filter is fine and if the profanity is really vulgar, then of course it should be cleaned up. That of course leads to other...bigger issues...
My $.02, it's no big deal. Lets not make one out of it...

It's not a serious problem yet, but in forums open to the public the content can be scanned by various network techs at offices tasked with keeping inappropriate material out of the work place. If that is the case at your place of business, you could find one day that you cannot access this site any longer while at work because the profanity triggered a block.
Personally I am not shy about using profanity at all when speaking, but I tend to refrain from it when I am posting messages. I guess I feel spoken words will evaporate quickly, but words I type will likely be around for a very long time as a record of what I have thought and said.
Some of my sites I allow it unrestricted, others I filter out the words, and yet others anyone typing profanity will get warning point sanctions that can accumulate to a point where they get banned because of it. So I treat each site differently and how I feel it is most appropriate. On THIS site, I just don't feel that it is appropriate to the atmosphere we would like to share among ourselves and casual visitors looking in. Although this is certainly a mostly adult oriented site, it is not at all unusual for children with an interest in cars to be looking in, and I would hate for some parent to yank their access rights because of the language being used widely throughout the site.
As I mentioned, it's not been a big problem, but it just seemed to me to be an INCREASING concern.....
