Vette vs Typhoon???
While at the gas station, a guy who was at the pump across from me asked how much hp my vette has. ..I told him.
He then told me that he "dusted" a vette like mine just the other day with his Typhoon (Turbo) which had something like 330hp.? I asked him if it was a c5 or c6 but, he didn't know. All he knew was that it looked like mine but, wasn't sure if it had pop up headlights or the kind I have .
He seemed like a nice enough fella but, I wonder if he passed a vette on the road and feels like that qualifies as "Dusting" a vette?

Hey Rob,
Yeah, I believe it was one of them. I told him I didn't have a clue as to what type of vehicle he was refering to. He told me to look it up. So, I did and found a vette racing a typhoon on youtube. And the vette smoked it!!!

Those take very kindly to mods, and most owners by now have moded them well. They'll do 12's or better in the quarter. From a stand still they are deadly with the All Wheel Drive. Stock they run high 13's in the quarter with a 0-60 time around 5 sec flat which is C4 corvette times. You can get them to high 300hp and high 400lb-ft of torque which would start pushing it to the C5 range for a standing quarter mile.
Now that's said, I personally wouldn't doubt it'd smoke you from a stand still (first 100 ft), but you'd catch him real quick. Also, did the corvette driver even know they were racing? I'm pretty sure there are a few cars around here that claim they smoked a 96 corvette, but I never gave her more than half throttle.
If you ever see a typhoon or syclone at the track, they are very fun to watch. They can launch HARD. They can rev up to 4,000+rpm, drop the brake and off they go really quick.

There is one down here putting over 600 to the wheels....lot's of boost. It's very possible. Like the time I raced a AWD Talon years back when the C5 ran 12's, it had fenders all differnt colors & the guy had only 1 arm (really!)....he ran a low11 waxing my butt!

We also have one of those Typhoon guys around here, and with his mods he will give you a run for the money.

My wife surprised me once while she was in my C4 and I was behind her in her import. She lit them up and dusted a Typhoon next to her, best I could tell the Typhoon knew it was a lost cause and let up near the century mark while the wife was well in front of him.

Heck, I don't care how fast you can make it go. It's still a soccer mom transport to look at. Just from looking at it, there would be no glory in beating it, and nothing but humiliation if beaten by it, so why bother?

Syclones are deadlier. Imagine that turboed awd drivetrain, but in a s10 body?
Got a buddy up north who owns a modded braphoon(bravada w/typhoon drivetrain swap). Hes dumpin over 500 to the wheels, said he'll only race me in the 1/8 cause he knows theres no topend on those trucks.
hell i still wanna go for a ride in a awd beast, always wanted to own one, but theres no good automatic awd cars out there lol.

I'd love to have a Typhoon. Would be a great grocery getter and would be useful once I have kids. Certainly won't get rid of the vette though.
