Default Dead battery, again...

Went to start the C5Z this morning and the battery was dead again. Been sitting for just over a week, I think. It's an Exide Orbital that was put in back in May of 2006. Supposed to have an 84 month warranty, so I'm taking it back tomorrow. You know the human race is probably perfectly capable of making merchandise that will LAST, but unfortunately I guess it is not a viable business strategy to do so....

Now, the LAST time this happened, I had the oil blow out through the turbos afterwards..... Wonder if I'll get a repeat of that interesting event as well? Maybe I need to put the case of oil back into the trunk..... just in case.

I've got my original battery in the 03 and about 47,000 miles.I wonder every day if it's "THE" day.

Why not the Optima Redtop? Have run them for years & have a ton of customers with them in, very few issues. We run them in our 1,000 HP Alcohol dragsters as well. They hold up great to heat & vibration.

i believe i read that if you let the car set for a week or more you should leave it on a battery tender, or the cars PCM will kill it.

Most new cars with all the memory functions & systems have enough draw to drain a battery over time if they sit. The corvette is no exception. Get a battery tender.

Most newer cars can stay parked 1-3 monthes without a problem

next time you leave it parked awhile pull the IOD (Ignition Off Draw) fuse & see if that helps

This is something recent. It is not at all unusual for my car to sit for a week or two without being driven with no ill effects on the battery.

Had the same thing happen to our Chevy Astro van, which sometimes sits for a month or three without being started. Battery stopped holding the charge. Took it to Sears and replaced the battery, and it is back to normal, starting right up with LONG periods of inactivity.

I use the Battery Tender Jr. It is very compact and does the trick. I have two and rotate them around to keep the batteries fresh on all three Vettes. Works for me!

Went to the place where I got the battery. Tire Kingdom, or something like that. Ran some tests on the battery and they said it was registering low. Put in a new one for free, since it's covered with full replacement for two years.

We'll see how this one holds up. If I get the same thing about a year from now, I'll try a different brand. Maybe one of those Optima red tops.....
