Although everyone (except me:rofl1 said it'd never happen, it did.

On March 11, 2010, DC (Digital Corvettes) was sold to a Canadian Internet company:

The new owners run several other car sites including a knock of of Brand X known as Corvette-Forum (note the dash). Very slow site, but hey, a site all the same:yesnod:

The thread was started because I know we have a lot of members here that are also members there:thumbsup: Some of them, like myself, don't get there that often and might have missed the thread as I almost did, and wouldn't get a chance to say goodbye

Of the major international sites, I found DC to be one of the more easy going sites out there. Not heavily moderated, more open to free thought and speech, and full of information, humor, BABES, and narrow minded individuals:lmao::lmaohad to throw that in:lmao::lmao:

IN the past year or so, I've only gone there when I need a larger base for a question (like the wheelchair modification for our new poster recently), or when I want to lurk now and then. It's a good site:thumbsup:

I wasn't real happy with the way Rich was treated by Patrick, and Patricks attitude toward our site, or any links to other sites (the web is big enough for everyone!) but unlike here, it was a "business" from day 1 and that's how you protect it.
Regardless, none of that is a discussion for here.

While the owner of CF (aka"Brand-X) continued to sell "lifetime supporting memberships" right up to the point of sale. Then, after selling for a gazillion $$ to IB, took it a hauled ass:wavey: (I'm not sure anyones heard from him since?:rofl1, Patrick on the other hand, made a public notice (see the link) that anyone who purchased a "lifetime supporting membership" could contact him and he would refund thier $$$, no questions asked:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Now that's freakin' CLASS!:thumbsup:

I think the new owners will do ok.
Unlike the other one, there's already a lot of comms between the members and owners, not just propaganda being fed to them by the mods:nonod:

Who knows what the future will bring? Have to wait and see.

Well, I'm glad you are thrilled with him and his site, but personally he acted like a complete jackass to me and I haven't been back to their site since. Truth be known, I would rather you not promote that site HERE after the way I was threated THERE.

I know he did. That's exactly why I mentioned that part in my post.
Maybe I didn't make it clear.
The difference between "here" and "there" (any there) is, we're not a "business." We're a true enthusiasts website for the Florida Corvette owner and admirers:thumbsup:

All the others are obvioulsy $$$ driven.

Here, there's no chicken chit worries about whose visiting where or a member of what. Just friends getting together to jabber about cars and watch women (that reminds me-droptopgirl........????)

No over moderation, no deletions and very few locks and bannings

Most of these nationwide sites are $$$$ makers for thier owners and pretty chicken chit protective of thier "turf."

DC, just like CF and most others, won't allow linking or mentioning of another site on the board (with some exceptions) and in some cases, even manages to filter out pm traffic:nonod:

FWIW, I'm not promoting the site:NoNo:. It's a statement of fact and a farewell:wavey: to another "owner/enthusiast driven" site and hello to another corporate one.

People were jumping up and down when CF was sold out from under them that DC would "never do that!!" Patrick was echoing that sentiment regularly...even as of late...

Now look what happened......

It's just a business.
And, if he ever gets the video/tv thing up and running well enough to draw major interest, and the right offer comes along, he'll sell that too....mark my words:yesnod:

I could go back on CF but won't.

And I rarely visit DC except for the reasons I mentioned in my post.

Just the same, although I was as pissed off as an old wet hen when Brand X banned me, I've gotten over it and moved on. People cross post here to CF all the time. I don't get pissed off over that.

Patrick was a **** head to you, and even a bit to me when we tried to mend fences for both camps.

Just blow it off....does them more good to complain about it than to ignore it and never mention them
