94 C-4 changed the coolant and thermostst was running fine now after it gets to temp (but runs fine until then) it bucks and knocks (from idle) and really rough idle. Dont have meter and all sensor wires seem to be hooked up and not broke. Radiator is full. Dont really want to start replacing sensors if not needed. What Ya Think?

Probly got coolant in the Opti Spark when you changed the thermostat!

Junk, with a C4, don't you have to "burp" the cooling system? I seem to remember that the filler is lower than the highest point of the water, and if you don't do it right, you'll wind up with an air bubble trapped in there. That might do all kinds of wierd chitt after the temps come up.......

Yeah,Andy you have to burp it most of the time!:thumbsup:But the Burper Valve is right above the Opti and if you don't take precautions coolant will get inside the Opti Spark,Once the fire gets to jumping around in there Things Go "Hay Wire"!!(As in screwing up t electronic Optical Eyes!):banghead::banghead::banghead: 9 times out of 10 the thin foam gasket between the Opti housing and rotor cap are cracked from heat!
92-94 are Un-Vented and moisture can get trapped in it!!95-96 are Vacuum vented from the factory and aren't so bad to do it!!

Yea got her "burped" and is full. Thought it was just wet but this was a week ago.
I'll be coming through Melbourne soon,I'll be glad to stop by and check it out!:shrug01: I usually carry my Diagnostic Computer,Electronics Equipment and most any Tool's I'd need except a Jack and Stands in my Official "GMJunkie" Service Vehicle!!:D

Ok sounds good but wouldnt it run like crap from start up not just after warming up? Runs good untill the temp gets over the 185 range. Sounds like some kind of sensor after it goes into closed loop (open?) mode. Thanks

94 Vette.jpgCool if you would like to stop! I am right off RT 1 north of Pinada in Casa Loma Estates behind BP station 527 Tracy Lane 32940

Yeah,It's possible could be the temp sensor on the the front of the water pump,But changing the thermostat wouldn't cause it to go bad!Could be just a bad connection somewhere,Could be a bad ground,Could be a faulty Coil,Could be a Faulty Ignition Module! Could be allot of things and still not trip a code,But without a Scanner and someone that knows how to use it to see exactly whats happening it's just a wild guess!! In your case a paper clip just won't
do it! Without a Code/s set,it's just hard to say!!

Yea it has me perplexed!!!!! Should have stuck with one of my sayings "IF IT AINT BROKE-DONT FIX IT!". Like you said if no scanner it is just a guess and no the SES light is not on before or after it warms up.

I'm sure GMJunkie can diagnos the problem quickly but when my 94 did exactly the same thing it was the ICM. It was an easy 30 minute fix for about $40-$50 bucks.

Good luck!

UPDATE

Car is in the Vette shop-new Delco Opti-wires & plugs, new water pump, drained fuel tank and fresh fuel added. Car runs but is heating up and is pinging. All the normal stuff has been checked, coolant full, radiator fins clean, new thermostat, fans working right, wire conections checked---. Car is still at shop and they are trying to sort it out. No codes. Cats were taken off and checked. Thinking it is in the O2s. Thing is it ran Ok before I changed the coolant and soaked the opti. It has always ran hotter than I liked when the ouside temp (in Florida) got above 80 and the MPG (average) never got above 21MPG (on freeway drive), this is my 4th C-4 and all the rest got in the mid to high 20s. Any ideas?
