Fuel rails

Ken,

If you don't get anyone local for your fuel rail covers, do a search on Corvette Forum, there are a few guys that used to do custom work and posted over there.

I had custom fuel rail covers painted for my Navy Blue 01 vert, but that guy was in NJ (found him at Carlisle one year) but his website is no longer active, so he must have went out of business.

Also, if you are just looking for smooth painted covers, instead of air brushed, and you are also looking for some under hood dress up stuff, take a look at West Coast Corvettes. They have some nice stuff. Here is there link.

I hope this helps!

Be careful of the painted covers. I have a set that I bought that were painted electron blue to match my C5Z and within a year they were beginning to bubble up. So apparently the "Corvette tax" does not necessarily include the hoped for quality that you are paying for....

Of course, they won't fit on the new engine anyway..... :shrug01:

Wow......

I can see a company in California will be making some money here American Hydrocarbon makes some beautiful stuff (thanks Mickey)

Lets see now, I close my eyes and see Electron Blue with blue carbon fiber under the hood and a very empty wallet. Oh well ya only live once or twice or something like that.

Rich, I think it depends on who did them. I would assume that if the painted fuel rail covers that you have bubbled, then they were not prepped correctly. I have had painted covers on my '01 vert for about 8 years and no problems at all. Here is a pic of the engine bay. Just a little something to get away from the plain stock look.

I can't remember who I bought them from, but they came from a big name supplier like Mid America Motorworks or Eklers. :shrug01:

Rich,
Are those blue covers on the Z16? If so I really like them and where did you have them done?

Hey Mickey,

No, the Z16 still has the stock red fuel rail covers on it. These are on my Navy Blue '01 convertible. They are done by a company called Autobuffs, but when Ken posted this string I tried to look them up and the website that they used to have is no longer there.

They are painted Navy Blue with the 5.7L hand painted in Red, and some sort of chrome (chrome tape, I think) for the Corvette letters and on the raised bars across the covers. They were then cleared over everything. The guy did great work, including custom air brushing, but I can't find him under his company name Autobuffs. Maybe the economy got him.
