Jacking pucks.....

Ran into an unusual (and somewhat surprising) situation the other day when changing my rotors and pads on my C5Z. BTW she sits at a "stock" height with Portenza's 265/40r17 and 295/35r18). What I found was that the jacks (2) would not fit under the Vette if the pucks were in place. I had to very carefully watch jack placement as opposed to using the pucks. Kinda thought that was a little unusual.

The only change from pure stock was the Portenza's. I wonder if this is a little lower then stock GY's and is anyone in need of 4 new pucks?:thumbsup:
 
I had to buy a low profile jack to use on my cars. Seems most regular jacks aren't designed to go so low. That can even be a problem with some lifts, as the arms may not fit underneath of the car.

Of course, if your car has been lowered, that can certainly make this situation even worse.

If I was you I would keep the pucks in the trunk, just in case you have a situation on the road and the shop does not have pucks to protect the car. You have already spent the money, just keep them in the trunk for an emergency.

Got a set of them for the C5Z as well, but that's pretty low on the priority list right now.

Unfortunately they don't make them to fit the C6 Z06. After seeing the frame on that car, I can understand why it would be a challenge to make a set for it.
 
I like that method. I used a similar method with the C3 but have not even tried with the C5.

Look in your Owner's manual or Shop manual and you will see alternate jack locations. The rear crossmember, etc, etc, etc. Hope this helps.:thumbsup:
