Got the new rubber on and sure feels better now. Shop showed me one of the rims was bent. Never do feel it while driving but sure could see it on the machine as being out of round. Not sure how easy it will be to find a used Chrome 2013 starfish rim.
Well, so much for quality control. You would think they would check for something like that before leaving the manufacturer.
I would have thought you would have some notable vibration from that wheel at speed. But I guess the shock absorbers might have soaked most of it up.

I guess when you said "out of round", I envisioned a wheel more oval than round. How could that sort of damage take place without being noticeably visible damage to the wheel?
probably bent on the inside barrel and not the outside. very common as it's furthest away from the center section which holds the structural integrity.
Yeah, that makes sense. But still, I would think it would take some significant trauma to the wheel to bend it. Or is it being "very common" meaning it is very easy to get that sort of damage to a wheel on our cars? I bought tires and wheels from a guy who had them on a Camaro that he wrecked, and now you have me thinking that maybe I should check to see if any of those wheels are bent.
I sure don't feel anything while driving. The lip and bead are fine. But they showed me on the machine that is was out of round. What are the chances of finding one chrome 2013 starfish wheel? I bet a dealer would charge a ton.
Wouldn't an "out of round" wheel cause abnormal wear on the tire that wraps around it?
Well heck, if you can't feel any vibration from it, and it's not affecting wear on the tire, then I guess it's nothing to lose any sleep over replacing it.
At least you got some rain today....k_01:
Not really. I was in Plant city on the Vette cruise.
