Strong gas smell

Reading through the notice, it appears to me that the fuel odor condition must exist prior to replacing the fuel pump, and this isn't something done as a preventative recall measure. Or am I reading that wrong?

Beats me. I hope i never have to replace the fuel pump after this is done.

That can be true about just about any shop. Sure wish I had a crystal ball before my C5Z went into Chris Harwood's or Aaron Scott's shops.

They said my injectors needed cleaning. They always try to sell something.

I saw two of the same color used C7's sitting on the lot that were 2016's. Scared to even go take a look i don't want the upgrade bug to bite.

Yeah, when I took the C6Z to the local dealership before the extended warranty ran out, they tried to upsell me everything under the sun. Since they were replacing the left front hub and the master cylinder under warranty, I agreed to the brake system flush, even though they probably did that anyway during the repair.

Seems the dealer did a great job so far. The injector service really made a big diff. Car just snaps and gets up and goes now.

They must have been dirty for a while.

Did they tell you how exactly they cleaned the fuel injectors? I haven't ever cleaned mine on any of the vehicles. I believe I have read somewhere that using gasoline with Techron already in it helps somewhat keep the injectors clean. I usually only use Chevron gasoline in the vettes.

Sheet says Perfrom BG fuel injection cleaning and TB body cleaning and decarbon add fuel system cleaner to tank for add cleaning. I just use any gas. So maybe i should start using better gas.

Yeah, I've always used name brand gasoline in all my vehicles. I guess because my dad owned an Exxon service station when I was a kid, and even back then warned me about using the "no-name" brands of gas. Evidently they source their supplies from the lowest bidders, so quality can be a bit ,ahem, spotty sometimes.

I tend to prefer Chevron, Shell, and Sunoco, in that order.
