Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. So if you need help figuring it out, here's the thread you need to take a look at -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3581
Thank you, everyone!
Rich Z.
I think a lowered C5 looks REALLY great, but no way I would do it myself. I have to be careful of scraping the front as it is around town, so even an inch lower would cause me some real problems.
Heck coming out of the Wharf Restaurant northeast of Tallahassee I actually bottomed out in the center of the car on the driveway. Pretty darn sharp hump there and I should have angled it more. I was going slow, but still, not something I want to have to worry even more about with the car being lowered.
hey rich, i know ive been somewhat dormant lately, school/work/lack of funds, but its good to hear from you. thats pretty much were im at, usf is infamous for its speed platous (check spelling) as well as my apt. complex. i bottom out doing earthworm speed over our speed humps. but i LOVE how our cars look even with 3/4" lowered. i guess mine just looks especially high to me. thanks for the input
I've heard some people say that the lower you take it, the harder the ride gets. Something do do about reduced travel for the springs or something. Which makes sense. The body can only really move so far in relation to the wheels hitting a bump, so lowering the body takes up some of that slack.
I've seen pictures of some lowered cars that looked REALLY cool, but no way they could actually drive it anywhere in the real world without scraping off body parts. Unfortunately many areas are just Corvette unfriendly to drive into....
I lowered mine myself..I found no difference in handling or ride.I took it in to get a 4 wheel alignment after about 2 weeks and it needed almost no adjustment. Here is a link to a post in the Z06 forum that is some good reading and instruction on the subject.. http://www.z06vette.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16104
Go to ---Maintenance,Mods.,and Tips section, then go to page 4,then do to "I went down on her again",If you need more info on how just let me know,I'll talk you though it,Very easy though.
I also lowered mine on stock bolts all the way down dropped 1 1/4 inch frt and 2 inch in rear ride is the same . I do sweep the street in driveways.
