The economy here is probably better than it is in Michigan, depending on what you do?

Regardless, at least the weather is better which makes it a bit more tolerable:thumbsup:

Happy to have you aboard. Post up some pics of your Z when you get a chance.

You'll find a good group of folks here, several from the area you mentioned and a lot going on:thumbsup:

:welcome:

You can't come here. We've already overfilled our quotas of Michiganites!!! You'd be better off moving to Cuba. Of course, you know I'm kidding. :welcome::welcome::welcome: to the Forum and a bunch of great people.
The economy has had an effect on everyone, especially the housing and mortage fiascos. Just about anywhere on the west coast of Florida is desirable. Ft. Myers is rapidly growing. Sarasota is very cultural and some folks would say that there's a certain snobbery around there. I live just north of Sarasota in Bradenton. The two cities are joined at the hip so to speak. Bradenton is more laid back and folks around here tend to not flaunt their wealth as much. Expect double population in the Winter from snowbirds from Nov-April or May.I hope this short paragraph is of some benefit to you. IMO your best bet is to spend a winter here and see how you like it. If you are around Bradenton, feel free to give me a shout. Good luck and please, you must SHOW PICS of your vette or we won't believe you!! :NoNo::lmao:

There is a vacancy at Conway self storage next to mine.$125 per month and the nice Cuban lady who lives in 340 makes a mean breakfast.Thats in Orlando.

As I travel the roads of Florida I notice a lot of flat work being done.

Welcome Brian! I use to live in SE Michigan and I now live in Cape Coral, FL (Just accross the river from Ft. Myers). I still have family in Michigan and yes I really feel sorry for them this time of year. I think the economy in Florida is better then Michigan but how well you can do really depends upon what you do for a living. Overall I think the economy in the whole country kind of sucks right now but Michigan is worse then most states. I hope the US automakers can get it together and things turn around for Michigan.

Lets see some pics of your Z06!

Welcome aboard. As someone in the high tech industry, I have to tell you, there is not much down here unless you are in the aerospace industry. I had to go back to NE to get a decent job with decent pay.

I found a company that allows me to be a remote employee, and I fly alot. Going to NJ and Boston over the next two weeks, but its always nice to come back to the house in this gorgeous weather.

If you are in the trades, there is work, lots of construction.

Mark

Since I just recently retired and relocated from Maryland to Ft. Myers, I am not really qualified to answer your question as it relates to the job market. But, if you have the ability to relocate the housing market has taken a big hit here so there are plenty of opportunities to get a good buy on a house here.

I relocated to Florida because I wanted to play with my cars and golf 12 months a year. Just not possible where I was from. Even with the higher property tax and homeowners insurance, it is still cheaper to live here than in Maryland. I hope that helps some!

Rich
