I went to Auto XTC in Clearwater last week and had the Wild Cowboy insulation kit installed. The console heat was really bugging me on my C6 vert. I found this kit on CF and John from Auto XTC agreed to install it for me. The kit comes precut and basically you remove the seats, console cover, carpet, etc. I will tell you it's weird to see all the interior parts of your car laying around on the floor. This job took all day and John worked his tail off to do it in one day.
I noticed an immediate improvement in the console heat. It's 90 % better. Also the car is quieter from road noise and the CD, radio, XM radio sound better.
I've enclosed pics of install. When all the carpet is put back in place, you cannot tell any insulation work has been done. I give this mod :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Nicely done! I've heard great things about the C4 kits...never even thought about the C5/C6's needing it as well. Thanks for sharing. :thumbsup:

Thanks guys for the compliments. We were driving around tonight and my wife says to me that it was actually pleasureable to talk again in the car. Wife HAPPY, me VERY HAPPY!!!!!!
 
I have the Melrose headers, long tubes, and X-pipe and waiting on the bi-mode exhaust to arrive hopefully in a couple of weeks. I have the Mild2Wild switch waiting to be installed once the exhaust arrives from backorder.
 
Hi Joe, It helps all around. I remember thinking when John got all the insulation taped and fitted that it reminded me of the inside of the Space Shuttle minus the articulating arm!!

How is it applied? Tape? Glue? Adhesive already on the product? None just the bolts etc from the console and seats to hold it in?
 
The precut pieces are put together with aluminum tape. John also used a spray adhesive with a very light coat. There's extra material as well that can be cut and added as needed in the tight spots. Overall it comes out looking very nice. I've been waiting to pick up UFO signals any day now!

Great post.I've been meaning to do this to my C5.Road noice at highway speeds really bugs me.
I guess it will help with heat on re entry too;)
