Do your part for border security!!

I agree the game is funny as hell. Just to bad we couldn't go down to the border and do it for real.. That would take care opf the problem asap..As far as the immigrants that came a hundred or so years ago they wanted to melt in asap. They did not want to make this country Mexico north..And by the way there was a place called Ellis Island, they didn't just break into our country. We need to do like Arizona and Oaklahoma have done and fine the hell out of anyone who employs illegals.. That is a start to getting ahold of this problem. I agree try calling ICE, SEE IF YOU HAVE ANY LUCK GETTING THEM TO SHOW UP!

It is funny as hell. However, regardless of Ellis Island or not, they would still be considered "illegal" by TODAY's standards. You couldn't just go up to Ellis Island now and do that. We did not have statutes in place as a nation back then to consider anyone legal or illegal. Ellis Island was just simply the place used to redirect traffic and control the situation. This could be done today but most likely because of $$$ they don't want to. I don't see how it's any different then crossing the border. The difference is it was organized illegal immigration and/or controlled immigration depending on your point of view.

On the otherhand, I totally agree with you that back then the objective was to come here to become citizens of the United States. And that is were the problem lies.....lack of assimilation! But it's a complete fallacy that most illegals want to turn this into "Mexico North." That's completely false. It is a very small percentage that feel this way. They simply want to have a better life because Mexico, Central America and the rest of the world, well, suck!!!!! We, the United States, not Mexicans, allow this "Mexico North" mentallity to set in.

We have lowered our standards to theirs. Like I said very clearly before, I do not support them in the slightest bit, however, I can totally see their side of the fence. Think about it, why would you learn English, if you don't have to? It goes back to what I said, "press one for English, oprima el dos para Espanol." It's human nature to find the path of least resistance. We don't enforce or impose s#it in this country. We allow them to get away with it and like human nature, they'll continue to do so......as long as we let it!

It appears clear to me that my post was not read thoroughly but merely skimmed through. As much as I hate repeating myself I guess I'll have to. I'm assuming you've never called I.C.E. and are merely voicing your opinion or belief of what you think is real life. I know several people who have called I.C.E. and collected their "ransom." Worked everytime. Maybe they can't get 'em out fast enough were you live. I.C.E. busted my friend's ex-girlfriend and her family who were here illegally from Malaysia and put the hurtin' on them real bad. Two of the three were sent home. Like I said, the choice is yours to do or do not. Don't want to call I.C.E. then call the cops and keep calling them until you are sick and tired of doing it and document it. They are illegal so they can't own the property so you know they rent.

Take their landlord to court. Call I.C.E. on him. Suit his a$s! There is a bunch of stuff you can do. My point was simply the worst thing you can do is sit around and do NOTHING!!!!! Doing NOTHING is like being one of the illegals.......a part of the PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!! Choice is everyone's to make.:yesnod:

But hey, at least most, not all but MOST illegals work. Pass by your "friendly" neighborhood housing project during midday and tell me how many "residents" who are U.S. Citizens I may add, are actually working?!:lmao: So who's REALLY the burden on the taxpayer?

I am for an orderly legal immigration policy. Like when our forefathers came through Ellis Island. This breaking into our country because you want a better life is not cutting it.If that argument held water I could go to the bank and rob it because I want to be a millionaire!! Most people want for something but they don't just take it! I have called ice and will do so again. I have also written to all my elected officials right down to the local level. I sir am not one who sits arond complaing and doing nothing!

Good, you shouldn't sit around and do anything.....but most people do nothing. But again, I'm going to correct you, our "forefathers" who came through Ellis Island did so in an orderly fashion because WE, the United States as a nation, allowed it. They can do this again but again I feel they either don't give a crap or don't want to spend the $$$ or even maybe because they lose $$$ to do so. However, through our "forefathers" eyes, they were getting in here whether WE, liked it or not. Again, no difference between border crossing. The difference was WE WERE ORGANIZED!

The majority of illegals only want a better life and I fail to see why you or anyone finds this so difficult to believe? This is 90% true. I never condoned how they are finding it, I'm merely stating a fact. That's what most want. It's what all of us want. It's what our "forefathers" wanted. Again, I do not condone nor do I support illegals in anyway, but I understand their position. I also am not blinded by being a "homer" and realize that this occurs only because we continue to allow and by we, I'm not saying us as citizens but our elected officials, government, big business, etc. Again, we lower our standards to accomodate them. No other country does this. If you get off a plane in Poland right now, you better damn sure be able to speak Polish or you will be screwed. The same goes fo Russia, Korea, etc., just to give a couple more.

However, to be devil's advocate:reddevil:, I can totally from a business standpoint understand why to allow it to continue when it's cheaper and easier to hire illegals more then willing to do the job for less money then it is getting the however many millions (I'm guessing here maybe around 50 million) lazy-a$s motherf#(kers on welfare that are a much, much bigger drain and burden on our tax dollars. In fact, I'd be willing to make a compromise to trade all the leeches on welfare (that are on it unjustified) with illegals....swap identities. Require they learn English and are tested as such, and dump the dredges of welfare south of the border and see how Mexico likes it for a change!!!!!

Guro I don't know where you are coming from but to say the people that came through Ellis Island were illegal is just plain wrong....The U.S. government controlled Ellis Island since 1808. From 1892-1954 about 40% of the immigrants came through and were processed at Ellis Island..Some points I agree with you on but you are way off on this!

No I'm not. Do you realize that the term "WOP" is an acronym for "With Out Papers"? You just agreed with EVERYTHING I said however you take my words out of context and that's where you are creating your difference of opinion. I said time and time again "by today's standards" they would be considered illegal. Since we did not have those type of immigration laws back then, there was no way to say they were "illegal." But say this happened today, they would be repatrioted. Again, those people were getting in here whether we wanted them to do it or not......no different then border crossers. The difference back then was they assimilated and we controlled the influx. We did not bend over backwards for them.

Secondly, you again confirmed what I said that WE, the U.S. controlled the influx of immigrants. The key word is CONTROL! I have repeated this again and again and again. For whatever reason, most likely $$$, the government will not CONTROL s#!t!!!!! Again, I repeat, I do not blame illegals for their actions because WE, the U.S., have lowered our standards to accomodate them. Again, why? I don't know.:shrug01: Wouldn't it be nice if we had another "Ellis Island"? Why don't we? Again, I don't know.:shrug01:

To me, this seems like something that could be easily resolved but again $$$$$$$$. The illegals pi$sed all over their own cause with all of those ridiculous demonstrations. Again, something else I don't understand. What were they protesting? They were illegal, they have no rights to begin with! What's worse is whoever those idiots were that organized the whole thing, did it on May 1st and for those that don't know, that's International Labor Day for Socialist countries. What a wonderful message this sends to the rest of the world!!!:banghead: But again, we did nothing. Now, illegals are enboldened and the rest of us citizens are pis$ed at the whole thing. Great, what's next????:shrug01:

Let me jump in for a minute, then I'll leave you guys to battle it out;)

We "could" have another Ellis Island.

We don't:(

Why?

Politics! Control!

Before heading out to liberate some 3rd world craphole from tyranny and opression, why not start with the one a mere 80+ miles off our own coast?

Free Cuba and you stem some problems.

Mexico? That could be handled in a matter of months politically. Again, it's money and power that fail both:(

Unfortunately, Cuba is of no strategic impotance to this country given that it has no oil and little other resources that we could benefit from other than a tourist attraction like in its heyday when we all went down there to gamble, drink and chase their mamacitas. As long as Cuba remains the way it is, the Republicans benefit and maintain a strong foothold with the help from the cuban americans here - that is sure to change some time in the future.

How we have sat around for 50 years and let Fidel thumb his nose at us, I will never understand. Now Mr. Chavez is doing the same and yet we are doing nothing because we are interwined with his oil production.

Just my .02

I pretty much agree with you except that Cuba does have some strategic advantage. It's our closest neighboring country and under communist dictatorship rule. I'd much rather have control of the country via a political leadership that is sympathetic to our needs and concerns:thumbsup:

The country could be useful in a number of import/export and military ways aside from being a tourist resort. Even then, tourism fuels an economy in many places.

And OIL....yes OIL.......son of a beotch....and they said MONEY was the ROOT of all EVIL!!!!!

Ah! Correction. The Key West Buoy says 90 miles to Cuba. Actually it's around 94 miles depending on the tides but hey, 90 sounds good!:D

All good points. As much as I hate Fidel Castro, I have to admire the way he's thumbed his nose at us for almost fifty years. No one else has done this. Actually, Shadow is on the right path. Cuba was always a thought in the past for U.S. Presidents for many reasons. Several U.S. Presidents in the past have wanted to annex it as part of the U.S. because of it's location. During the 1800's it was looked upon mostly as the final nail in the coffin of the Spanish empire, if Cuba could be turned. Well, history showed that to be correct.

Cuba's greatest resource is her soil. The sweetest sugar comes from Cuba. The best Tobacco comes from Cuba. The strongest coffee comes from Cuba. The best Rum comes from Cuba. The Bacardi family is Cuban, not Puertorican. Bacardi was originally Cuban Rum until Fidel came and the Bacardi family moved it's distilleries to Puerto Rico. And yes, they have found there to be huge amounts of oil......YES, oil, off of Cuba's coast line. Again, I don't have the answer for you Shadow!:shrug01:

And yes, you and I agree, Mexico could be handled very easily in a matter of months. However, like I have said earlier, I am of the belief that if I'm big business and I control the "world" it's much easier to hire an illegal from Mexico, Guatemala, Philippines, Colombia, Czech, whatever, that is willing to do the job for less money, sometimes better, and not b!tch, then to get a lazy-a$s, welfare collecting, porch monkey, American citizen to do it for more money and lots and lots of R&R which includes whining.

My biggest problem is why complain about illegals so much and be hell bent on getting rid of them when there are so many Americans that will absolutely not get off their a$s to goto work and you and I have our taxes go to waste supporting them. I mean, those illegals are picking our damn tomatoes and dammit I need my grass cut!!! I made the smart-a$s comment on an earlier post about "your friendly neighborhood housing project." Well, drive by one one day and tell me how many people you see "hanging out?" Shouldn't they be picking our damn tomatoes since they have nothing better to do or haven't been doing anything for quite some time? If I have to get off my a$s everyday and fight traffic anywhere from Miami to West Palm, argue with customers, and break stuff constantly (the best part) just to pay my mortgage, then how fair is it that I have to have my property taxes pay for those slobs "hanging out" in free government housing?:banghead: F@(k them, they need to get off of their a$s too!!!!

However, if I see them damn illegals blowing grass on my 'vette one more time, forget I.C.E., they're tasting the end of my sword!:ahh:

GURO....

You're right, it is 90+ to Cuba. Not sure where my head was (don't even go there!:rofl1:)

Hey, if we made PR a US Territory, why not Cuba?

I know where you're coming from on the business portion of your post. Big business (even small business) is going to get the labor where they can get it the best and cheapest.

The projects? There almost daily. Seen what you're talking about:(

I'd be very careful about surfing too long on Tom Metzger's website (resist.com), Terrible Tommy as he is more commonly known is highly monitored by the FBI and other government affiliates. I've listened to nearly all of his radio broadcasts and surfed his site hundreds of times; however a relative of mine (Virginia State Trooper and his trooper friends) all informed me that these groups are watched closely and "visitors" who lurk too long wind up with their name/ip/url/etc on a government watch-dog list!

Too late for me, I'm sure my info is cataloged somewhere on someone's hard drive - oh well. Tommy brings out some very real and brutal truths about illegals, immigration issues and other race related topics - he is very racists and wants the world to know and pushes his views hard. He was ran out of the state of California due to a lawsuit and moved into his mother's house in Indiana (when she passed away) and now broadcasts his show "The Insurgent Radio Show" from the basement which he calls "the bunker".

In all honesty, he has very legitimate issues and brings out the facts concerning race in America and White supremacy, but to me, he's a bit over-the-top, and indeed monitored by the FBI. Thought I'd let you guys know before you start downloading his radio broadcasts - which by the way are great to listen to during a long drive! ;)

From my understanding, Cuba was a "temporary" territory aka piece of property like PR, for sometime. But it was not the intent of the U.S. Government at the time to keep it. I have asked myself this question many times considering that from the Spanish-American War, Cuba, was the only country NOT annexed by the U.S.

Remember, Guam and PR are still part of the U.S. and the Philippines was granted independance twice (1949 then 1960). Yes, Filipinos nowadays regret this!!!! The ones that say no are flat out lying!
I've read in certain articles that Cuba was not seen as important a strategic military site as PR was. I've also read that Cubans did not want annexation and always rejected it. Yes, the ones that are still around today from that era do regret this much like the Filipinos. Whatever the case maybe, there were several reasons.

To do this today, would probably be disasterous considering PR Government is BROKE!!!!! Who knows, but I have a very open-mind to the thought much like you do. Shadow, since you are in L.E. I know that you know exactly what I'm talking about and hence I don't have to go into details. I used to work for the cable company so I spent a lot (not as much as you) of time there. Used to infuriate me that my tax dollars would not only pay to keep these people unemployed sitting at home getting fatter, no only would it pay for them to live for free, not only is it paying for them to have cable (if you live in government housing, cable is the least of your concerns), but the fact that now, I AM THE ONE INSTALLING IT TECHNICALLY FOR FREE!!!!!:banghead::banghead::banghead: Vicious cycle!

Sad sacks of s#!t aren't they!!!!!!:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

Guro,

Anyone who refuses to even try to earn a living on thier own is a sad POS to me!

If you're trying, regardless of where you live, you're ok in my book. I know people in public housing that work thier tails off, hard, every day, trying to get ahead due to some disasterous calamity in thier life. To those people, my hat's off:thumbsup:

To those (whome ever, where ever they may live) who refuse to try to support themselves...GTFO!!!!

Something is wrong with that picture and the morons in Washington know it, yet refuse doing anything about it! :shrug01: They, more than anyone, need monitoring! :toetap05:
