C5 question?

Shadow

New member
There's a chance, slim at the moment and I hope to be able to help him keep it (just hired him), but a friend may be forced to sell his 1999 black C5. It's a 6 speed with the Z51 suspension package, removeable top, very well cared for and maintained and no damage history. about 65k on the clock.

If he has to let it go, it should be around 17k.

Deal or no deal?

What say ye C5 afficianados?

Ive seen C4's for sale for around that price. Id look around on ebay, autotrader, etc for what other '99s are going for and compare. Sounds like a great car though!

That's what I was thinking. It has about 65k on the odometer, he drives it (for the most part) like an old man:rofl1:but takes excellent care of it.

I've seen them for low to mid 20's lately.

As I said, I just hired him to help out in my business. We've been friends for a long time and I dont' want to see him loose his car if he can help it.

I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for the responses.

If anyone else has anything to add, problems to look for, recalls, etc., please feel

Soft Market

The market is so soft now and very few cars are moving. If he has to sell the Corvette.... $17.000.00 should be sellable. I sold my 1997 6 months ago for $18,500.00 (60k miles) and based on that it should move. Being at Z51 helps alot and 6 speed is a plus. Tell him to get that Corvette show ready, since competition is so strong right now.

For Example: go look around, based on this website you could get $20,000.00

Post a picture for him here on this Forum.

Ok, here's the deal. He doesn't "want" to sell it and isn't actively pursuing that goal at present. This is tentative.

He and his wife have been friends of the family for several years and they're really good folks:thumbsup:.

He's a surveyor by trade, she left her job (contract expired anyway) with local government, and they went out on thier own a few years ago. A short while later, the housing market went to hell and the rest is history:(

He's lucky if he gets 1-2 surveys a month (if that).

He's filed for bankruptcy protection (has his filing case number, etc) and is just waiting things out. The house is gone. Fortunately, he and his wife had a small lake cabin and they have been able to move ito it.

His work truck is protected since he's upside down on it, and his 6 banger Camaro (which is paid for) will be.

His vette however, that he has about 2 years left on, has about 15k to pay off. The other 2k (+/-) is needed to protect the Camaro, thus the 17k asking price.

I've brought him on board to help out in my business. We have at the moment a ton of work up his way and should produce a nice little income for him and still allow him the opportunity to keep his surveying gig on track:thumbsup:

If our business continues to grow up there, we'll open a "formal" office, "hire" him officially, and place him in a management role. For the time being, he's just Subbing to us for tax purposes (works out better $ wise for him).

If his surveying business turns around, we'll make other arrangements then.

All in all, I'm just trying to help a brother keep his vette.

Thats the long and short of it, but if he has to get rid of it, he'd like to see it go to someone who would appreciate it. It's black on black with a removeable top and 6 speed....I appreciate it already:rofl1::thumbsup:

But seriously, I don't want to see him have to go there:thumbsdown:

Thanks for the advise and I'll let you know how it rolls out.
