Tropical storm Fay

Here's the latest.....
AW ......... CRAP !
Been in monsoons in Southeast Asia......lotsa water, not too much wind. The monsoons aren't all that bad......you're just wet or damp constantly. Hurricanes are a whole 'nother ballgame. Was stuck in the house in Dunedin for about 12 hours during one of them. Water going sideways past the windows, and not only rivers where street used to be, but whitecaps on them as well! Makes me glad that I'm in Boston right now, and a little scared that the house and Vette are right in the projected path of this one. Hope like heck that the darn thing gives up the ghost before it gets to Florida. Button up tight people and keep us informed.
Andy :wavey:

If the storm was to stall in the southwest gulf with some of the warmest water around then we could have a problem.

I dont see the storm stalling or getting stronger than 90mph, but you never know for sure with these kind of storms.

I did read that once it clears Cuba, it is expected to slow down in forward motion which should make things interesting in the hours to follow...

HIstorically they do slow down somewhat once they pass over Cuba. Depending on the duration, it could intensify, but i don't look for anything over a low grade Cat1 at best unless it heads for the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

I just spoke with one of my contract servers in S. Florida who was wiped out by Charlie. They just got thier building up last week and started moving equipment and supplies to the new quarters yesterday....go figure!

They're sweating bullets:eek:

BTW...I still have the 89 Landcruiser and short of 5 feet of water, should be able to breech just about anything that's in it's path.

We can load a boatload of supplies, fuel, or a bunch of people in that thing pretty easily.

If anyone in the area (Hillsborough, Pasco, Polk, Pinellas) needs assistance, we can probably get to ya! Just give me a call and we'll see what we can do?

Gordon

Deb made me go buy extra BEER and gas for the generator to keep the fridge going, just in case.

This outta be fun. Cat 1 hurricane like Guro said is pretty much a paid day off. Ive seen regular storms here in bradenton/sarasota area get constant wind gust of around 50-60mph and tons of rain.

Well today at work, GE stated their storm policy. Not only do we not get paid for hurricanes, unless they can prove they are going to hit Palmetto direct, we have to be at work.

Once again..

The All Mighty dollar trumps the safety and wellbeing of employees and their families!:nonod::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

Looks like the Naples area is getting a pounding right now. At least it's not a full hurricane force storm..... Hopefully it will stay pretty tame.

I'll do it tomorrow Shadow. It's been a long day and I'm too damn tired now. I have to scan them and then upload them.

I've been getting rained on all day since about 10am down here in Palm Beach Co.

Bummer man! I've got a good friend down there (PBC) works as a reserve Deputy with PBSO. Talked with him last evening as a matter of fact.

If you get a chance, please post those pics of Andrews devastation. It might be a great refresher my friend:thumbsup:

Looks like the state lucked out again:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Looks like this thing is still winding up pretty tight even being over land. Doesn't look like it's planning to lose much punch....

This is kind of a let down lol. I was hoping for some rain, but all we're getting is overcast.

It is nice a cool out right now. I'm digging it. Besides, lake okechobbe (got no clue how to spell that damn thing) is where we really need it to rain the most.

Man, this thing is REALLY holding together tightly for being over land. If it were over the warm waters of the open Gulf and able to strengthen, I think we would have a very serious storm on our hands.

I certainly agree. I'm really curious to see what happens when it hit's the Atlantic then heads for Georgia (or so they say).

Okeechobee

Just got off the phone with my buddy in WPB.

Said they had a tornadoe last night in Wellington that picked up a 2 horse barn, horse and all, and slammed it into another one. The horse is fine and standing in the middle of the field going WTF?!

And a tanker was overturned but the driver escaped unharmed:thumbsup:

Other than that, just a lot of rain and some wind...

Sheesh........ Man, I can't win. Connie and I were planning on leaving a day early to have a relaxing setup for the reptile show we are doing this weekend. And guess where that is? Guess where Fay (which is predicted to be a hurricane at that time) will also be. Daytona Beach........
