It hasn't been a week and the corruptions allegations are already flying:

TROOPERGATE
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Sept. 1) -- Troopergate. It's a political he-said, she-said that has dogged Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for nearly two months and is likely to do so for another two months leading to the Nov. 4 presidential election.
The little-known vice presidential candidate faces accusations of firing public safety commissioner Walt Monegan in what amounts to a messy Palin family drama dating to her pre-gubernatorial days. Monegan had refused to fire a state trooper who had gone through a messy divorce from Palin's sister.

The rest of the story here:

This kind of crap may very well be why quality candidates don't run for president. They probably just don't want some arcane crap dug up with no relevance to anything and hung out like dirty laundry. I guess I can't blame them for that. I know I certainly wouldn't want the fact that I was caught soaping windows when I was 5 years old printed on the front page of newspapers.........

As a independent I read and study all the issues before I vote. I actually look at the voting records of each individual .My tiny vote doesn't mean squat the the big picture, but I do vote.

So far I really like Sarah Palin.

I'm with you on the research. I'm a "registered Democrat" but vote more independent. I do my own research and could care less what some media talking head has to say or a newspaper prints, unless it's FACT!

This case intrigues me and I'm going to watch it a little more closely.

I can see some hint of impropriety there (as the the abuse of her office), but I also see a need to FIRE that damned trooper if he used the stun gun on a relative!

The case should be a slam dunk, but I think they screwed the pooch in thier selection of an "investigator" (he's an attorney not an investigator!) to probe the case.

Too many ties to the family:thumbsdown:

Palin just announced that her 17 year old daughter is pregnant. How normal ave. family can ya get.Thank God I had two sons and neither got pregnant.

With regards to Palin, the scandal like Rick stated was mentioned on the evening news the day she was picked.

Although I am registered as Republican, I have have always voted for the best candidate regardless of their party affiliation. This time around based on the choices out there I wont have a clue until Election Day unless something amazining happens that sways me in one direction or another...

I listened to the announcement that morning, then the talking heads for about an hour. Couldn't stand the redundancy and leg humping, and threw in a CD:thumbsup:

This was the first I saw of it but then again, I haven't even started looking at her background.

Her 17 year old daughter is pregnant....sounds very familiar.......

So where do you go to get untainted info on the canidates? I am a registered Republician but vote for who I prefer not just for my party.

The courthouses, other government public records sources, etc. Unfortunately, a lot of the information needed is no available immediately (go figure huh?)

In those cases, go to any and all sources, weed through the BS, learn how to identify agendas, political bias and such, and sift through it until you have what appear to be facts.

Go to the offical records and see how she voted, who supported her in her previous campaigns, do public records searches, etc.

You'd be surprised whats really out there if you have the time and energy to look for it:thumbsup:

Make your decision from that.

As in this case, just because the press implies that she did something wrong, I'm not willing to buy off on it.

My View on the parties...

Like several of you, we're registered Republicans but, will vote for who it is we feel is the best Candidate for the job. Unfortunately (like you), the information we base our decision on is a hodge podge of Political Bull Sh!t with limited truths and information. To get an honest agenda from either candidate is NOT going to happen:NoNo:. Sure, we'll be told that so and so wants to reform lets say..Health care. But, we're not really told how they'll do it.
As you know, what typically happens is they get into office, their plan fails then they blame the other party and life goes on.

Like Teddy said @ the Democratic Convention.. they've been saying they'll reform health care for OVER 30 years! Yet, here we are still saying the same thing! Although He (Teddy) continued on to say he thought Obama would Actually reform Health Care...I don't believe it!:nonod: Why should I???:shrug01:

I was an unwaivering McCain supporter (mostly due to his war record) till recently. I'm like many others who are tired of the BS and want change. But, OBAMA??? Yeah, there'll be change alright!!!

United we stand Divided we fall... IMO, The day Congress officially divided into "parties" is the day we started falling!:nonod: Now the Government is nothing but several Cliques that fight over bs, and when an actual Great Idea comes up, the other clique typically votes against it, cuz it wasn't their Idea!

Sorry for the RANT...

BTW, As far as Paris is concerned...Gimme a Phecking break!!! She's nothing but rich white TRASH!!!:ack2:

I wish the gubmint would stay the hell away from healthcare "reform". They will only make it worse. Unfortunately, I'm sure that know matter who gets elected, we will get socialized healthcare. Too bad for us, too bad for our kids who will have to pay dearly for a rationed, poorly run gubmint disaster to provide healthcare to the world.

I could not agree more! It's all team mentality. If you're a fan of the blue team, a red team player is always wrong. It's like listening to a Patroit and Colt fan at a sports bar on Monday night.

If we really want the best person for the job, lose the red and blue shirts.

Amen and well said:thumbsup::icon_cheers:

I would like to see at least a worthy independent to vote for. Otherwise I'm sitting this election out in protest. It seems I always vote against the lesser of two evils, so this time I need to vote against BOTH of them.

Yeah, I would like to see the entire party system just go away. It puts people we vote into office in an awkward position in that often they have to choose between following the party line, or their constituents wishes. OUR representatives just should not have to make that kind of choice in order to try to keep their political career alive.
