Wiper system....

I guess you're never done but that's OK too. I've had Goldie for well over a year (come to think of it closer to two years) and the wiper lift system and wipers have never played well together.

If I simply turn on the system from the wiper switch the wiper door will not open, hence the wipers can not operate. I have to open the wiper door cover using the override then turn on the wipers and enact the opposite to shut the system down.

Rich427, 72Ragtop, junkie can anyone offer a check this, check this approach to returning the system to original operating configuration?

Thanks guys,

Ken

Should have mentioned it while she was here...Just needs some tweaking. We can do it when you come back for valve lash final. Hey, did you notice you have an emergency brake now?:D Give us a report Ken.:dancer01:

Yes, Goldie was delivered yesterday....we pulled a late nighter & got her done in time for the show & brought it up to him at Ferman. All turned out well!

All is well that ends well!! :dancer01:

I know where I'll be going when the time comes for a little extra power. :yesnod:

Yes and a beautiful beast she is too. OMG power, I love it. Tracy and gang did an awesome job.

Ken, glad to hear Goldie is back home.

Even better to hear that the work is done and you feel that Tracy and RevXtreme did an awsome job on your car.

Did that cam put a little more life back into that BB?

Feel like heading to the dragstrip????

Do a couple of runs just to get a time.

Rob thinks he can beat ya...:shrug01:

See what happens when you get motor-work done?

Everybody's got to take a shot at ya.

Way to go Tracy and the boys at RevXtreme, turning 4th down and 10 into a TD.

Hey Ken, glad to hear that you got the car back and all is well.

The vacuum system on our vintage cars can be a pain. The biggest issue normally is a vacuum leak somewhere in the system. Remember, the same vacuum system raises your headlights as well as the wiper door. I would try to check the vacuum to wiper door and to each of the headlight doors. Then I would also visually inspect the vacuum hoses. It might be time to replace the hoses for the entire system. If you decide to go this route, I would check with Dr. Rebuild. The guy that owns this company can be a pain sometimes but he has top quality stuff. Here is the link to his website.

http://www.docrebuild.com/dr-r-web/AAA-HOME.html

Click on the item that says "Wimpy 68-72 Wiper Door", then look for your specific application. His kit includes the correct ribbed and striped hoses, "T's", filter, and instructions. His instructions provides a very good diagram that you follow. If you decide to go this route, just take your time and replace one hose at a time and you will be fine.

Good luck and let us know how things work out for you.

ken, first thing i would check out is the hoses, see if u have vac. at wiper door actuator. Start there

I have determined that the vac line coming to the wiper door actuator has no vac coming or going. I brought my air compressor into the garage and directed a short blast of air into the air port on the actuator and the wiper door opened as intended. Based on that it appears that the wiper door/headlight actuator relay is not functioning properly (although both headlamps fuction properly). Would that be your take on the problem. The lines them selves seem to be ok.

ken, follow that hose, from actuator across the firewall to the reservoir under the drivers side fender. See if anything is disconnected. I think there's a T coming off the reservior for headlights/wiper door. car not home or i'd check. Are u getting any vac at the actuator?
