94 C4 Left rear wheel noise

I have a metal sounding click from left rear wheel when changing direction. This a 94 corvette LT1 with manual trans. 88K miles and no modifications of any kind. Have replaced control arm bushings and u-joints and still have noise when going from reverse to forward or forward to reverse when letting out clutch. Wheel bearing is smooth and seems tight. With wheel off the ground can turn easily. Only happens when power applied to move car. Can't seem to identify. Help Help

Problem found. Loosened hub nut, cleaned and retorqued. checks good.

Dave, I can't help with the noise identifying, but post up the year of the Vette, and if its a manual or auto trans. Some of the guys like gmjunkie who know how to diagnose problems like this need to know this info. Also post if you have different tires/rims than stock on the Vette, and any suspension mods. All of this info will go a long way towards making a good diagnosis. Good luck with the problem........

1. How many miles are on the car??:shrug01:

2.Did you check the wheel bearings for excessive movement??(Both Sides!!)Allot of times a noise can travel and sound like it's on the opposite side!!:thumbsup:

3. If you find excessive movement in the wheel bearings,Check the spindle Nut!! (If the nut is loose or not!) Remove the spindle shaft and apply a small amount of Anti-Seize or Wheel Bearing Grease evenly to the splines of the shaft and bearing,re-install shaft and torque nut to 155-165 Ft Lb's!! This will usually cure the problem!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

4. If there is still excessive movement of bearing or the noise is still there,Replace Bearing!:thumbsup:

PS Also,Check Brake pads for ware and movement front to back in caliper!:thumbsup:
