2nd Annual Sunshine Corvette Poker Run...

Formula Outlaw

65' 2 owner car
Okay, we are starting to put together some ideas for the Second Poker Run.

We decided there were just too many events going on to try to squeeze it in as we want to schedule it for the benefit the most people who would like to participate.

Would like some suggestions as to when you guys/gals would like to have it. We are thinking end of Jan/Feb.

So offer up some suggestions please....

Thanks...

Thanks. Been up in TN. Looks like I'm headed to Nashville. For awhile anyway. My goal is to eventually split time. My brother has asked me to join him in his music venture. I'm writing lyrics and we've sold our first two songs....:yesnod:

That's besides his own music. He has seven full CD's ready for production. We just gotta go sell it.

We had quite a few people request the Poker Run be held on a Saturday, rather than Sunday. It will be up to the majority of what the participants would like.

Congrats on the music venture!! February would work better for me.
Put my vote in for a Saturday

good, i'm not alone on this...

I found the answer Tewski, Wikipedia is king!!

A poker run is an organized event using a motorcycle, boat, car or other form of transportation where participants travel over a predesignated route and, at designated stops on the route, draw playing card(s). The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run. Prizes (usually cash prizes) are awarded for the best hand; some runs will award smaller awards for lower hands. Poker runs usually require a fee to enter; part of the fee goes to funding the event (including the prizes), while the rest goes to the event's cause (usually a charity of some sort). Specific rules and details vary, depending on the event.

Thanks Chris  Where does the poker run usually go from? Sarasota/Venice area or further North (i.e. Sarasota/Tampa)?

Brian

I vote for February. Thanks for getting this organized. :dancer01:

Last summer the course consisted of starting from Corvettes West off of Clark Rd. in Sarasota, ran up Longboat Key, up over the skyway bridge stopping in Bradenton then back to Hooters in Sarasota at Clark Rd and US 41.

This year we are going to have two starting points, one for the northern folks and one for the southern folks, then the first stop will be somewhere the same distance for both groups, then continue.

We are trying to plot a course that follows the most shoreline for the scenery.

You will be going down Casey Key Rd., I know that for sure. That's the prettiest drive around here.

I'll say here and now that we are looking for sponsors, so don't be bashful...

Keep tuned....

He's a rock n roller, but his music is very original, not like anything else out there. It is very complex in the structure of the music, no 3 chord jams here....:D

So much of "new country" is a complete crossover to rock n roll it's almost funny. Back in the day, Lynryd Skynrd, Allman Bros., Outlaws, Marshall Tucker, Creedence Clearwater, hell, they'd all been country. So we're crossing over too.

Back in 96' when I returned to Florida, I told my brother then where new country was going and he was so against having anything to do with country he basically wouldn't even talk about it. Even then I could see how the approach to the instrumentation and writing was slowly going rocknroll.

Told him then that he could have be the one to revolutionize guitar work in country. Six months ago he came to me and told me how much he'd wished he'd listened to me. It went down exactly as I told him it would ten years ago. That's why he's asked me to come on board.

We'll be setting up a website with samples here very shortly and will keep you informed. It's exciting and kinda scarey at the same time.

If you're going to send folks over the Skyway and you want to maximize pretty shoreline, may I suggest having a stop at Fort Desoto?
