Busy Morning

Well this morning I lowered the Vette and Painted the brake calibers.:dancer01: It all seemed to go well,nothing has falling off yet:ack2: I put 4 coats of paint on each calibers,going to let them dry and see how they look tommorrow,Hopefully I won't have to touch them up.The pictures are in the photo gallery if you would like to check them out.:pics: Rob.

Those Calipers look nice. I have a caliper paint kit sitting on a shelf in my garage, I have been procrastinating on painting mine but yours look good. Now I might have to get busy and paint mine.

Did you use an online write-up to do the drop? I have been wanting to lower mine but the fronts aren't really clear from the write ups i have seen.
 
Thanks for the compliments,The paint is easy to do,put you have to have sometime on your hand,you have to put the first coat on and then wait 15-20 mins. Then put the other coats on within a hour or you have to wait a whole day to finish.That's each caliber.So if you do it like I did,one at a time,figure 4 hours.If you can have all the tires off,then you can just go around to each caliber and put a coat on each one then wait,etc.That should only take a hour or so.

I lowered by turning the bolt on the leaf spring,turn it COUNTER CLOCK WISE,until you have two threads left,and that is it. The front,it is easier to take out the bottom bolts out from the shocks.The back you don't have to.Then drive it around and in time it well settle and lower itself,I got about 2 and 1/2 inches ont the front and 2 inches on the back.Hopefully in a week it will go down another 1/2 inch or so.That was actually easier to then the paint.:ack2: I can't count how many times I took off the tires today.:eek:

All in all it was pretty simple and the sterring is just fine,and rides Awesome now.:thumbsup:

If i have this correct, the rears your want less threads showing, and the fronts you want the most threads showing right? Did you cut ant of the bushing up front? I read you can either cut the bushing or remove the bolt completely. Some noises may occur by removing the bolt completely though. Is that your experience as well?

If I lower my vette I won't be able to drive on most of the roads around here... I was driving along the other day where they are repaving the road and the storm sewer manhole covers were sticking up so far that I cringed everytime I drove over one. I thought for sure that I was going to scrape the bottom of the car.
 
It is easy,Trust me

Both the front and back bolts will have 2 threads left on them.I did not remove the bolts completly or cut the bushing.I just did'nt feel I wanted it that low.I also have some sh*tty roads here but it seems to take them well.I do have to pull in the driveway a little slower now,Slight dip in the driveway and I scrape the skrits,but no big deal.Rides great and no noise.You can buy alonger bolt for the rear and it will go lower,but i think I'm good for now.If anyone needs a hand,let me know and I'll swing by and help.I did not use Air tools to this,by hand ,only used air tools to take the tires on and off.Hope this helped.:shrug01:

This is the front bolt,Remember Counter Clock Wise.It seems wierd but it works.:thumbsup: RobThe back you would have to hold the one end and turn the other end,The front,just turn turn the top,you will understand once you have the tires off.

Or does the kit have white paint and the letters are painted after the red?

My little secret is out

That was the hard part.I painted over the letters on the third and forth coat,after each coat I wiped off the paint from the letters when it was still wet,then when the paint got tacky,I used a q-tip with rubbing achol on the letters,becareful not to touch the paint,takes alittle time but the end result is Great.:thumbsup:Rob
