Personally, I think the government should be strictly limited in power to ONLY those powers specifically granted by the US Constitution. This BS they pull by using the Commerce Clause as their justification for sticking their fingers into every facet of our daily lives flies in the face of what the original founders of this country had in mind when they created the Constitution.
I believe the one thing the founding fathers did not believe likely at the time was that a time would come when the people of this country would actually vote into office as representatives, people who would actively try to destroy what made this country great in the first place. So they made no provisions for "the people" to be able to actively correct such a mistake without waiting for the next election to come around. Or in extreme cases, bloodshed. The second amendment, of course, was the failsafe in case it got to the bloodshed stage............. At least the founding fathers DID recognize that people in power tend to want to stay IN power, regardless of the peoples' will or choice in the matter.

Did you know that the 2nd Amendment was actually used by a bunch of returning GIs after WW2.
It seems that the same crooked old politicians were still in power. While these young men were overseas, fighting for our freedom, the crooks took it upon themselves to rob the city's coffers in ways never imagined prior to the war.
The GI's saw this and tried to put a stop to it but even the local courts would do nothing. They took up arms against the local government and took back city hall.
During their trial they used the 2nd amendment as a defensse and won! The old guard was locked up and new officials were elected into office.
Lets here it for more American heros!

Farm subsidies are extremely complicated and vary from state to state. If someone really wants to wade thru all the mumbo jumbo here's a great website to start with.
http://www.ewg.org/farm/region.php?fips=00000
67 percent of all farmers and ranchers do not collect government subsidy payments in United States, according to USDA. Among subsidy recipients, ten percent collected 73 percent of all subsidies amounting to $120.5 billion over 11 years. Recipients in the top 10% averaged $34,190 in annual payments between 1995 and 2005. The bottom 80 percent of the recipients saw only $704 on average per year.

No, never heard about this one. Do you know of a link to this incident? I would find it interesting to read up some more about it.
Thanks!

I heard the story years ago.
Try snoops.com for verification.
Don't be amazed if it's an urban legend.

This is the link I was speaking of. Choose Florida, then choose your county, you'll be able to see the highest to lowest paid farmers in your county. It's quite surprising. I live in a county of less than 35,000 people and the one (a friends parents) got $395,000. And I know several of the others listed.

I knew less about this topic than I thought. The top 10% averaged $34,190 in annual payments? That doesn't seem like much for a buisness.
