what type of gas do you use?

ive been running my old transam (94) on mobil gas for a while now. now that bp has bought out a majority of mobils its difficult to find mobil gas stations. where do you all buy gas?

I try to run Sunoco where I can in my Corvettes. If one is not available, I try to stay with a major brand, Mobil, Shell, etc.

Me...

Usually it's a Kangaroo store or Bp, Wherever I can find the lowest price.
I've had trouble with a few "Name brands" before. Typically, it was water in the fuel and it was the stores fault (more than likely) so, i've become less anal with where it is I go to top off.

Make my own. I refine old cooking oil from the restaurant that I sell to. Along with some othe bio-degradable stuff. End result is about 18 cents a gallon and I get over 20 mpg with it.

Some C-5 owners have had fuel gauge problems resulting from higher sulfur content gas. Adding Techron often clears it up. Running Chevron/Texaco will be OK. In general, I try to only use "top tier" gas. Google "top tier" for more info.

When I get the oil from the Mexican Restaurants it gives me a good boost. :lmao:

Yeah, I've been using Chevron for the most part. Mostly because of what I have heard about the gas gauge problems with some other fuels.

Super unleaded and usually Sunoco or Chevron but the Hess is also an option. No fuel gauge problems here yet, knock wood!

Oh yeah! I always use the 93 octane.

Back in the olden days, I actually did an informal comparison of all the brands of gasoline in my '66 GTO. By far, the BEST in both performance and mileage was the Sunoco 260 of that time. And yes, the brand of gasoline DID make a difference.

Rich,

That is exactly how I became an habitual user of Sunoco. The station near me in Maryland just last year stopped selling their 94 octane, which I used all of the time in the '69. The '01 and the '04 always get 93 octane.

There are a couple of Sunoco stations around here, but not many at all, otherwise I probably would use their gasoline, maybe. Not sure about the Techron issue though.

When I was a kid, my dad owned and Esso station (which became Exxon), and my uncle owned a Shell station. Just used those gasolines out of habit until I got into the high performance kick. Of course that was back in the time when lead was added to gasoline to prevent knock anyway, so people could use lower octane gas in their cars.

Funny.... Lead is known to cause some severe neurological problems when people are exposed to it. I guess you have to wonder how much effect breathing in lead laced exhaust fumes over decades has had on us older folks. :ack2: Not to mention all that asbestos from brake linings..... :ack2: :ack2: Heck, I can remember working at my dad's station and watching the mechanics doing brake jobs. They would just pull the drums, then take an air hose to blow out all that brake dust. NO ONE wore face masks or any of that stuff. :shrug01:

I use 93 octane and usually Sunoco or Chevron or BP, all have been good
to the car, and better to the gas guage

How I long for the old days of Sunoco 260...was that 98 octane?
