St. Augustine recommendations

Hi everyone. I am taking my bride to St. Augustine this weekend after July 4for our anniversary. I thought I would drive from Bradenton up to Ocala on I-75 and then get off anf take a side road north to Micanopy and see that old town. Then head East on back roads to St. Augustine.
Any other suggestions of back roads or old towns along the way would be appreciated. Also any speed traps between Micanopy and St. Augustine. Thanks, Mark

Man, I've been wanting to get back to St. Augustine again, but just never made it this year. Maybe in the Fall when the busy season is over with. There's another thread here somewhere about St. Augustine that you might want to check out.

Congrats on the anniversary!

Hey Mark, you'll enjoy the ride and the stop @ Micanopy...we make this trip frequently on the way to Ponte Vedra Bch. I would recommend cutting over to 301 to Hawthorne, then SR 20 east to Interlachen and Palatka. If you are in Palatka around lunch time you may want to stop at Gator's. The food is only OK but has an outstanding view of the St Johns River with a large deck. From Palatka take SR 207 to St Aug. In any event, do not stay on 301 thru Waldo or Hampton (notorious speed traps). Enjoy!

Ted

Ya know....

We ought to hook up for a run to St Augustine. Would be a great day and congrats on the anniversary.

And....they have a winery too.

Hey Ken, That would be fun. If it wasn't our anniversary, I'd say let's get together. I will take a rain check though. Hopefully will see you at Joe and Deb's party on July 14. Mark

Thanks Ted for the suggestions. I'll look at the map and see what you're referring to. Mark

Tram

When you get there be sure and buy tickets for the town train. It stopped in front of our hotel and for one price you can get on and off as many times as you want. It stops at several places including the castle, fountain of youth, and the winery!!! Best deal going. :dancer01:
