All Targas are removable. They are like T tops but are one large piece instead of two seperate pieces with teh divinding bar in the middle. Someone with more eperience may have an exact answer but the 1st Targa's I can think of are the C4's (1984 to 1996). Prior to that the C3's had T tops if they werent convertibles (1969-1982). Prior to that I think they were hard tops or convertibles only. After the C4's came the C5's (1997-2004) which were one piece lift off tops or the convertible option the same as C4's. The exception was the Z06 which had the look of the lift off coupe but a smaller back window and the top did not come off. They did that for weight reduction since the top hardware adds a tiny bit of weight. The C6's are like the C5's in their choices except that the Z06 now has the same back window as the coupe which has the removable top. The Z06 has a line above the windshield which makes it look removable but no line to correspond at the hatch.

The removable top is a cool option. I miss it alot in my Z06. I have contemplated taking my Z06 to a reputable body shop and having them cut the top and add the hardware to make it removable.

I hope this helps.

Don't have to cut the top off!! It's all mostly screws, glue and bolts!! Have to drill about 30 spot welds to remove the roll bar and weld in top mounting plates, from there it's all Genuine GM Parts,Paint and Assembly!!

Want it done?? We can "Hank Williams" it!!

I was referring to the Carvaggio kit for installing a targa top.
