100 in a 45 speeding

If he was tailgating you use the I was in fear of my safety and was trying to get away defense. It was an unmarked unit so you did not know he was a LEO. Also bring up the fact that you have a clean driving history. Be courteous and wear a dress suit. Appearance goes a long way in court. As for calling 911 point out that the danger was immenint and you feared the police response time would not be fast enough to ensure your safety. Use the word safety a lot !! I went to traffic court regularly for 20 years this defense often works.

Thanks or the input:thumbsup:.
I mentioned the same exact thing you just said earlier here.
It's good to know I'm not alone in that theory.
We actually taught that in some drivers classes because the issue was so frequently brought up.

He probably already went to trial. Any updates Bob K??

Yea, I'd like to know how it ended up as well?

I can check, but I think I'll wait a bit for the follow up.

Oh, and Retired Cop....:welcome:aboard:thumbsup::wavey:

Court date is next week thanks for the tips Gents will try to get back with Y'all to give U a update

Best of luck man. We'll keep our fingers x'ed for ya.

P.S. Just in case it goes south, I know where you can get condoms wholesale:D

Surprising as it may seem, not everyone has a cell phone with them 24/7. And of those that do, some will certainly have one with a dead battery.....

True. I don't even own a cell phone. Sometimes i will do fast burst over a 100mph on a open highway with no cars around, but would never have the guts to try that in a 45mph zone.

Well went to court and got a as s whippin:beatdeadhorse5:. 50 mph over the speed limit is a automatic $1000 fine plus court cost with no school to remove points .No speedin for this kid even if a unmark cop is up my as s.It is What it is :2232censored:

Ouch!! They're getting serious! More incentive to just outrun em in my opinion. Especially for the young guys that don't have a grand layin around that they don't know what to do with...or even us OLD guys that don't have a grand layin around! It's too easy to speed with these cars. I passed four cars on hwy 20 a couple of weeks ago while I was going to Destin. The car in front was going 45 in a 55 and no one wanted to pass, so when I saw an opportunity I dropped the CTS V down to second and nailed it. When I shifted into fourth (as I passed the slow poke) it was registering 96 mph on the speedometer! This was with the wife in the passenger seat and my two boys in the back, along with luggage in the trunk. I understand this car has a speed limiter that kicks in at 168 mph! Damn....why bother!?

Did the officer have video? Not that the video makes or breaks the case, I was just curious. Did the Judge see the actual driving or just verbal testimony?

While I don't agree with the high speed (outside say, an open road interstate system), $1000.00 is BS:thumbsdown:
I know, it's the states way of "getting your attention:rolleyes:
It's just another way the state bumps up thier coffers!

There's no reason to tailgate a violator...PERIOD!
It's unnecessary and unsafe.
Many officers I've known over the years, would use the tactic to get the violator to speed up.

I've said it before, and the more I see nowdays, the more I believe it.

Instant on, in car, front and rear facing video and audio is the way to go.
Keep a cell phone handy for the 911 call re: the tailgator, and if the situation presents itself, a brake check ;) (we all know how those wild animals can be at times:D ).

I hear local govt's love to settle liability suits:lmao:

V Testimony mine against his i lost:banghead:

V testimony?

Sorry it went badly, but it probalby could have gone worse. At least the judge (or magistrate wasn't a total dick, just a limp one...
