1990 crate motor

Hey guys,
I've started looking for a crate motor for my 1990 vette. I started looking at summit racing with no luck. :banghead: They said that they "skipped" over the 90's L98???? However, he did say that they had ZZ4 motors in stock.

What is the difference.....?

What I would like to do to the car:
1. replace engine with exact duplicate
2. replace engine harness and cosmetics
3. replace exhaust system

What is everyone's opinion on the replacement motor and where else should I look for a great deal on a crate motor???

Thanks,

Let us know....we have several options & a few already done that will fit in. We can also do the swap so it is all done right.

yea ditch that l98 and go ahead with an LSx if its not too much work. hell even an LT1 would be a great improvement

An LSx is a huge ordeal for a C4. Even the LT-1 is difficult because of the Digi-dash.

I've heard of some issues with GMperformance blocks. I'd talk to a local shop like revxtreme first.

Well, after searching for different intake manifolds....I've decided on the ZZ4 crate engine.

I know 4 things:
1. I could use the old intake from the L98
2. I will need to acquire a new prom chip for the computer
3. swap my oem 6 3/4 inch balancer
4. swap water pump

Questions:
1. Do I want to use the old intake??
2. does the balancer come with the ZZ4 crate motor??
3. any ideas where to look for a new prom chip??
4. what headers should I install??

Thanks for everyone's input,
Jered
