427 engine (part 2) - RHS block

Thanks Tracy. I'm not doubting your word at all, I just wish this had been taken care of before now when those valve covers were just sitting in a back room for months. There is also the issue that the hood was (is?) hitting the top of the catchcan, so that needs to be modified as well. Yeah, nothing major, but I feel like I'm about to be eaten alive with nagging little piranha problems like this.... :ack2:

Soon you will he a happy camper w/a one-of-a-king C5!

I wish that will be true, but the number of bad omens about this build is absolutely unreal. If I had access to a time machine, I would go back and slap some sense into my damn head....

From an "enjoyment" perspective, this was money unwisely spent, in my opinion.

Maybe... But honestly the question uppermost in my mind is whether I will ever be able to look at this car again without remembering this whole fiasco. This has definitely left a very sour taste in my mouth.....

As some of you may have noticed, processing the latest videos I've taken really hasn't interested me much lately.. I REALLY hate the fact that all this BS killed the fun, excitement, and joy of this whole project for me.

Maybe I'll feel better after it finally gets started up (if I should happen to live that long), but I dunno.....

I can certainly understand. I've certainly heard plenty of stories of custom builds in general, that by the time they were done, they were exhausted...and they didn't have a quarter of the issues you've had. At this point, I'd stay clear of the shop and tell Chris to call when it's done...then call every friday to get a, when am I getting my car back report. A little distance now, may bring you back to her sooner. Just trying to keep you motivated, as I think you're going to have one hell of a beast in your hands when she's all done.

Nothing to report..... :shrug01: I haven't gone out there for the past two days.

Another week has gone by and have not reached the point of initial start up.. :banghead:

You know, I had to look back through this thread to find the date that the new engine showed up at Chris's place and am SHOCKED to note that it was 8 WEEKS ago! The car itself has been in the shop for 8 months.
:ahh::ahh::ahh::ahh::ahh:

You've done an excellent job of staying cool but now I sense you are really getting pizzed off. Remember, you just want your car finished.

I have to agree with Bob. Your "internet" coolness has been first class. I'm pretty sure most others would have really gone off the wall.

Hah! Fortunately I can delete the screaming before clicking the "Submit Reply" button................... :hehehe:

This is easier said than done but I would get a camping chair and be there every day all day next week. I would be as polite as possible but I would tell him my car will be finished and is coming out of there.

Incidentals and tuning can be done in the Tampa area probably in a day. Just a thought Rich but if it was me the car would be done and out this week. Be firm but remain as polite as you can.

Yeah..........just show up over there with Gordon and a couple of baseball bats, and you won't have to say A THING! :lmao::lmao: Hey, on a lighter note, even a new baby takes nine months to get here and you're almost there right now. :rofl1::rofl1: I guess that's why GM can build them on an assembly line.......they oversee all of the parts suppliers and make sure that parts are compatible with other parts. When you start using parts from other vendors, YOU become the engineer/general contractor and it's up to you to make sure that all of the parts play well together. I would be willing to bet that GM has these same issues as you are having on a much larger scale, but they have a lot of people to work on the issues and you only have Chris and yourself. It'll get there.............trust me............and when it does.........look out Florida
Andy :wavey:

I've just been staying away from the shop, but talking to Chris on the phone every day. According to the list he sent me of things remaining to be done, I don't see any reason at all why this shouldn't be wrapped up this week. If not, well, I think it will be time to flatbed the car back home and just mothball it till I feel like thinking about it again.

Chris seems to have a more positive attitude about things this week and said he is getting someone in to help him out, so maybe this will happen finally.

But we'll just have to see what happens..

Man, if you flat bed that thing home, certainly let us know. I bet we could have a huge corvette gathering and finish her up. I know a couple of guys off the top of my head that I could probably get to come help out for a day (with enough advance notice). And I know they know their stuff! Certainly hope it doesn't come down to that though. Good luck this week Rich. I feel it's going to be a good week for ya!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope it goes as planned for you Rich. I quit going out there myself. At least Chris is calling you. Will be going out of town for 10 days starting Thursday.Maybe I'll have my car finished when I return.

Well I'm hoping it gets done. I just had to finally draw a line in the sand.

Yeah, that would really be cool to have a bunch of folks come here like that. Guess if I flat bed it home, I need to put it in the bay with the lift.

Here's hoping that this week brings me good news..... :icon_cheers: :drink4:

Yeah, Mike, I hope so too. Hope you trip is for pleasure and not business nor unpleasantness....
