• Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. So if you need help figuring it out, here's the thread you need to take a look at -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3581 Thank you, everyone! Rich Z.

427 engine (part 2) - RHS block

Chris called me, I have left them where he can pick them up at anytime. I hope this gets you going Rich.

Thanks Kenny. I really do appreciate your help with this. Let me know what I owe you for them, please.

Chris couldn't get the wires Friday, so I'm assuming he will get them for Saturday and be working on my car then.

Obviously the car didn't get started up yet. Not that Chris hasn't been trying like hell to make that happen, but it seems the cards are just stacked against us. I keep waiting for the "brick wall" problem to show up that will just kill this completely. Even if no other problems show up, it will be a long time before the apprehension of waiting for the other shoe to drop will finally go away.

Well, I ran out to Blountstown today, as Chris was out there working on my car. Or I guess I should say TRYING to work on my car. Those taller valve covers through yet another monkey wrench into the works. The one of the driver's side not only was infringing on the same space the alternator bracket wanted to be in, but it is also blocking the alternator itself from mounting into the upper portion of the bracket. So Chris is going to have to get some sort of alternator bracket extension made up before the alternator will work. Which, of course, means a custom serpentine belt as well.

I honestly was just going to just have my car flatbedded back home if it wasn't done this weekend, but after some due reflection, I decided that having it sitting in my garage, unfinished, staring at me, would likely be worse than just leaving it at Chris's where I don't have to look at it. Kind of "out of sight, out of mind", but not really, I guess. But I'll settle for "out of sight, out of sight", for now.

I asked Chris to just tell me when it is ready to be started up for the first time, and I'll go from there.

I will say one thing, though, that new engine sure does seem to fill up the engine bay to capacity.....

I took a short video clip of the new engine sitting in the bay last Friday when I ran out to Chris's shop. Hopefully startup won't be long now, but unfortunately is NOT going to happen this week.

Well, she looks simply stunning! Hope Chris can hunt down and get all the odds and ends done up on her. Just sounds like typical custom engine stuff now. The end is near...

Rich, LOOKIN GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!
If it runs like it looks, it'll be a beast!

Hi to Connie from Dotty and me.......

I should have the Alt bracket adaptor finished tomorrow. Tried to have it done by today so Chris would have it by tom, but didn't get to the machining yet.....just got it cut out of some massive 1" billet.

Well got a start on it.....

Shipped the billet bracket off to Chris today, should be there tomorrow or Wed at the latest. I didn't have time to polish it, but this should be the last thing needed.

Why no start up this week?

Because both Chris and I needed to get away from this S.O.B. for a while. He went on vacation, and I went up to Delaware with Connie to visit her family. I just got back late last night.

I guess nothing much was going to happen anyway till that bracket extension got milled out by Tracy. Thanks for doing that, Tracy...

Well I haven't heard anything from Chris today, so I don't know if he got the bracket or not, much less did anything with it. But certainly it looks like yet another week will be passing and my car won't be finished. Running up on 9 months with it being in the shop now..

My birthday is next week, and it appears that Connie will be wrong about it being done for my birthday. She made that prediction about 6 months or more ago, and I thought she was just being silly........ :banghead:

Well, it appears that Connie was wrong after all. My car WON'T be finished even by my birthday, more than nine months after I took it into the shop. It appears that I got pushed down the priority list on Chris's agenda last week and the early part of this one. I think I'm beginning to get pissed now....

My Vette is basically a stock one. Over the course of this year it's been out of commission for about 3 months just getting standard warranty work done. 2 tranny's, 2 torque converters and the list goes on. It still has to go back in. It mis-fires when I let off the gas (not accelerating) and the air conditioning controller (both sides) needs to be replaced.

Another friend in S Florida broke a flex plate and decided to change headers. His has been in the shop for 3 months. Sat night he said wrong headers came in. Luckily for him he has another Vette to race another friend let's him use.

I'm still learning Rich but it almost looks like you're on schedule with all that's transpired. Never thought I would say that but maybe it's a Vette thing. I'm hoping you can pick it up this week.

That was not what I heard BEFORE leaping into this. No way in HELL I would have done this had I known it would have taken even a quarter of the time to do this. :nonod:

A the life of the custom world. My truck is typically down an average of 3 months every year, for the past 4 years. I expect it to be true over the next two years as well. Still have a ton of bugs to work out. Transmission is up next...ah to rebuild it myself, or to empty the bank account to get it done. :banghead:

Yours still shouldn't have taken this long, even with the previous engine issues. :NoNo:
