I try not to think that thought. Had it too many times over the last year or more just to have the goal post pushed back a mile. I don't want to give Murphy's Law another opening to take a shot at me....

I think it's best that I remain pessimistic about this. That way, any surprises that show up will be pleasant ones. :yesnod:
 
Just talked to Aaron. Everything looked good on the dyno, but there is a bit of a stumble they need to tackle that shows up on the road test at mid range rpm. Shouldn't be any big deal to straighten up. At least I hope so.

He said it appears the final number is going to be right at 650 rwhp with about 8.5 lbs of boost. Torque is about the same, but hopefully I'll get a dyno sheet when all is said and done.

There will be some final clean up to do when the tuning is all finished, so I'm not expecting to be driving it home till maybe mid week. Assuming nothing else crops up, of course. But I'm STILL going to hold off cleaning out that bay in the garage......

Damn I hope this nightmare is finally coming to an end.

Rich that is awesome and everything I was hoping for while watching the saga of this build. It will be dam well worth it once it is done and you have those new polished wheels installed. :peelout 1:

Well, they were still working on that stumbling glitch at mid rpms over the weekend but didn't get it resolved. Jim headed back home this morning and will be comparing the tune with some other tune files to see if he can pinpoint the issue. I had hoped it would be an easy fix.... :shrug01:

So we're at the 1 yard line, apparently, but the defense is still holding the line.... :(
 
From the hints I got from Aaron, I think they suspect that it is the point where boost starts to build from the turbos that is the culprit.

It was working fine with the old tune they were using, so hopefully they retained that file to look to see what the relevant tables hold as values.
 
Man I would not EVER want Jim's job. WAY too many tables to look at for complete custom tunes. Heck, I wouldn't want to mess with my virtually stock engine tune. LOL
 
Nothing going on this week.

Aaron sent off the fuel injectors (which are LS9 72 lbs, 3 bar, btw) to make sure they were calibrated correctly. They just got back today.

With hurricane Irene kicking around off of the east coast of Florida, Jim is going to stay close to home base till that clears out. So quite likely he'll be back up on Tuesday.

Aaron tells me that the car WILL be finished next week, by hook or by crook. I think everyone is as tired of this as I am. I'm sure Aaron is tired of having the car living up there in his shop for so long.

But we'll just have to see. Heard the tune "the car will be done next week" MANY times over the last year. One gremlin after another kept that prediction from coming true. So I can't really say that I am at all confident that all of the gremlins have been stamped out of that car.
 
I think he's out driving it this week. That was the plan anyways. It's been tough, with all the rain. He doesn't want to drive it in the rain, can't imagine why.

Yeah, I've heard rumors that Corvettes will melt in the rain..... :lmao:
 
I know this may seem strange but I have been thinking about how much time has passed for this car and now that it is running they are having a stumble issue. Here goes with my question how old is the gas being used to do the tune. If they have not put fresh gas in to do the tuning and road driving you may be experiencing a problem with the gas having gone bad. Time to go back to sleep.

Good question, but the car has been through a lot of runs for testing, so the gas tank has had to have new gasoline put into it quite frequently. So no, it's not like the car sat for any length of time, since Harwood first cranked it up, without being run.

I haven't heard anything from Aaron yet this week, so there is no new status to report yet.
 
Oh, well, I did forget to mention one thing.

Connie and I cleaned out the empty bay in the garage yesterday. I kind of figure from what Aaron told me last week, that one way or another the car is coming home this week.
 
Well, not going to be this week..... :(

Jim isn't coming up this week to Aaron's shop as he is home sick.
