C5 427 forged motor?

Well, the plan is for that LS6 motor to go into Connie's Silverado. :hehehe:

I figure the fun Connie will have with the added power is worth losing the core charge I would have had. I assume the transmission and rear end will have to be returned as cores to the people making those things for Chris. If now, Chris can sell off what he wants to anything left over. I doubt I will even need any of that stuff again.

You guys are really gonna do it ???? What a lucky lady !!!

Yea the trans and rear gotta go back as cores :(

let us know when you wanna plan on doing it so we can get everything together that may be needed :)

Well obviously this can't take place until the new drivetrain is in my car and everything is working as it should. Plus I still need a ballpark idea of how much this is going to cost me. I know Chris will be VERY fair, but I would still like to know.

I guess there will be that spare 350 motor out of Connie's truck laying around afterwards.... :)

Yea we def need to finish your car to make the truck happen :rofl1:

We will work on the stuff that will be needed for the truck as we get closer to getting your car done...but if I remember Chris said it wont take a lot...I believe I heard something about a new oil pan if I am not mistaken but I could be totally wrong...but you know Chris he will do his best at helping you out with what he can ;)

I was looking over the specs of the engine build again and couldn't find what the compression ratio is going to be. I think Chris said 8.5:1, if I remember correctly. That's quite a drop from the 10.5:1 of my LS6 motor. I was reading something somewhere about a person who got an engine build and the compression ratio turned out to be TOO low and negatively affected the low end and mid range torque. I know lower CR is good for forced induction, but I really don't want to lose the low end and mid range oomph and only have the power when the turbos start kicking in at around 3K rpm. The motor should be the "cake" with the turbos being the "icing" on that cake.

Yeah, sometimes I read too much. I'm sure Chris has taken this all into account, but guess I need a "Everything will be perfect, Rich, don't worry...", now and again.. :D

Hey Rich,

Chris said it will be a 9.5:1 but thats as high as we can go.
with the change in displacement the turbos will come in quicker because of the increased volume of air. So you should not lose your low end to mid range ooommpphhh :D

Everything will be perfect Rich , dont worry :hehehe:

Thank you, Keli..... :itsok:

Yeah, I don't want to have to mess with methanol, alcohol, or water injection into the cylinders to help prevent detonation. That strikes me as playing way too close to the edge for my comfort.

You know, this has to be one of the best threads on this forum.

I can't wait to read about the progress of this build and the pictures Keli has promised.

Rich, it is your car and you are paying for the build but man, I am also very excited.

Lou

Yeah man! Me too. I was worried that the garage build was going to happen at the same time and I would have to choose which one to get video of. But now that the garage has been moved to November, no sweat.

I'm sure I'm going to be underfoot every day my car is in he shop getting LOTS of video. Chris will probably throw me out of there for getting in the way. :ack2:

Of course, the break-in period is going to be pretty tedious.......... :banghead:

I should have some pics by the end of next week to share with all :dancer01:

Rich, I know how much you are looking forward to getting the new motor broken in so you can really see what she'll do....so I am offering my services to put the first 500-1000 miles on it for you! This, of course, would be at no cost to you. No need to thank me, it's the least I can do for you. :lmao:

I will have pics of the MOTOR next week... :yesnod:

As we get some bigger parts in driveshaft, trans etc I will def get pics of all that stuff too..... most should be here by late Sept begining of Oct.

I know you are sooo excited Rich you cant stand it ~ :rofl1:

OK, but you NEED to let me know when that stuff comes in as well. :hehehe:

BTW, I mailed off a check for the transmission on Friday. We couldn't get over to the shop then. I had too many places to go and things to do. Plus had another concrete guy come over to see what I needed to have done so he would work up a price.

Oh yeah, I need to get that chromed alternator bracket and aluminum steering pump pulley to Chris. I've got to root around in my work room to find all that stuff.

Yeah, you might say I'm looking forward to this build....... :yesnod:

BTW, what is redline going to be on this motor when it is broken in?

will do

Redline will be 3500 RPMS when your breaking in it, after all is done and tuned more like 7000 RPMS :hehehe::crazy03:

Got the check yesterday  We will order transmission this week :D

Ah, so I see Chris decided to give me an extra 500 rpm during breakin..... :hehehe:

Yeah, well 3500 rpm will be better than 3000 rpm...

I need to compile a list of everything here on this thread so I can keep myself straight and not forget something when the old drivetrain is pulled out and the time is ripe to do everything that SHOULD be done at that time. It's REAL easy for me to forget things lately..... :ack2:
