Great meeting more new folks of this forum.
Sorry I missed you Danlando....bon and I went looking for you!
Lou G, Mark, Lady N (met your Hubby real nice fellow), Mark,
Harvey of Palm Coast Vette Club which member's took the GOLD of the Show,
Great bunch of vette lover's and Hell raiser's,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,lotta fun.
And of course Bill Scully..................my personal Favorite Stinger show car.
Bon and I missed Nancy...let her know we were thinking of her.
That Stinger needs to be judged by NCCC ruled Clubs ONLY.
As for me.................no more show's unless the car's are being judged by NCCC rules. Ain't worth the effort to spend day's and countless hours cleaning
only to be judged by people who haven't a clue.

Spiceman I know what you mean. :banghead: There was some great cars there that were completely overlooked, by the way the award presentation was going you could plainly see it was not judged fairly. I had a 63 vert that got 3rd in my class that had door damage give me a break. I was upset I did not get 1st 2nd or 3rd til I found out I won "The Chairpersons Choice award" :dancer01: made it a little better to swallow, but that 63 vert should have not even placed at all. Oh well two shows back to back that have left a bitter taste. But, you cant win them all.
You are right the judging has to get better. I hope you are still going to the port show. If not, another one you can go to is the show at the lighthouse in S. Daytona. If anything we can get some good sea food there.
Hang in there man its got to get better. I have been showing my car for a few years now and have seen a lot better judging out there. The judge told the kid in my class that his car did not come with a wood steering wheel. I go my facts book out and showed him he was wrong. I guess that did not put me in a good light with that judge. But you shouldn't give out advise unless you are right. You would think a judge would have his facts straight before giving out advice. That just shows you what kind of judges some of them were.

VERY VERY HAPPY for the award you won

:dancer01:
It's pretty sad in deed that there are judges who haven't a clue.
It surprizes me how few who are judges, know so little about vettes, and now day's there are many more special RPO's to stay on top off.
I guess my point is simple..........if you don't know........seek and find out.
In good sportsmanship as owner's and show goer's.........we deserve to be judged fairly and by some sort of organized rules.
Having one judge a car who hasn't either the knowledge of WHAT their judging, isn't right period. GET someone who does know. rather it be a limited knowledge of a certain year category.....or stick them with FULL Custom where all one judges is PRETTY, and clean, and EUEOOOOOOOOO never seen that before kinda stuff.
I remember how Zora use to love going to the concours to meet and shoot the breeze w/ vette owner's. Always wanting to know how his flock really liked, or disliked their vettes. Especially anything technical. However..you never one time seen or heard of Zora judging Vettes...........didn't happen.
Why? because there were TOO Many who truly knew the first thing about the car's they were judging.
As for this last show...........there were a total of 2 people who knew what a Mallet Corvette was. NONE of the FCC member's, none of the Palm Coast member's, none of the Ponce Cc member's, none of the Citrus CC member's.
Why I say that is because they came over and asked WHAT IS A MALLET.
Simple reply this is a Mallett #2 of 20 C5's built. a Boutique car so to speak.
from 98 on up......the Mallett's are regristry car's out of NCM.
Oh well.................again at least NCCC know, and look for the special Boutique Vettes like Mallett, Calloway, Ligenfelter, Guldstrand ect.
Again and most important to wife and I...............the People we meet are just GREAT. The fun we have JUST great. Trophy's at our age???just dust collector's.;):yesnod:

It was great meeting you and others from the Forum. As I told you there, your car is absolutely gorgeous. I can't believe you didn't place. :shrug01:
Highway robbery for sure.
Lou

Hey Lou, great meeting you there at the show

As I've already mentioned in prior post..the car not placing didn't surprize me.
The real prize again was meeting new folks w/ the same common love for their car's.
We had a great time for sure. Even saw more JAKE decals on vettes , shirts, hat's than I'd ever senn in one place. LOL
Hope we get to meet again someday Lou.
John:thumbsup:

Spiceman. It was nice to meet you and your wife. Your Vette is beautiful. I was wondering about the judging also. Even being new to the shows, it seemed pretty obvious what was going on. Is this the norm or the exception? Hope to see you again and meet some other members soon.

Hey Mark.great meeting you as well

To answer the question Mark..............again depends on the club and club rules as far as judging. This event was NOT an NCCC concours judged show for certain.
If nothing else...........I alone should have been a bit sharper when I read the flyer about the event. It clearly states that C5's were all bunched into one class. NOT good. I spend hours under the hood of my Mallett..not because it's dirty, but making sure everything is totally clean. Especially the bottom side of hoses, wiring, fan's ect. Making it ready for the white glove test.
When I see another C5 totally chromed under hood...........totally engine covered compartment w/ chrome panels so that one cannot see past them?
And the car is in the same class with mine?
That's not right. Or at least this is how I see it. BUT again this doesn't happen with NCCC club's...........and again had I paid attention to the flyer, well ................. No one to blame here but myself.;)

I agree... and how about when they are in the same class as my car, a nice looking car but with almost 150,000 miles on a '00 Vert. I've done a few mods... intake and exhaust,
red calipers, some interior dress up stuff.

My car used to spend a lot of time on the road, not sitting in the garage.

Now it's retired.

But as I have said before,

We spend hours cleaning our cars up for a show, some of us expect to win, some of us hope to win. I truly belive that it's those of us that "hope" to win that keeps the car show alive.

Some are home garage modders, while others seek out professional help.

Some keep it simple while others take it over the top.

Personally, I like to keep it Functional, Classic and in Style with the design of the car.

If someone likes my style that makes me proud of my car, When those folks strike up a conversation with me about their vette up in Ohio, or Michigan, and they can't wait to get it back on the road, then I remember why I spend an entire day cleaning my car the day before and another hour at the show.

HIP HIP Softtail...........

Your certainly correct............it's that nature of vette competetion in our blood for sure. For us and as I've stated many times over, meeting new folks is our real enjoyment, seeing new vettes w/ that new product added on, or the VERY Cool Idea for my vettte thing.

The one thing that I like about the NCCC show's..........the judges usually give back to the entrant the judging sheet's after scoring. This is a very important tool for the entrant as it gives one the opportunity to know where they need to improve, or in some cases why they didn't score higher.
So far this year, I've not seen my point sheet. But then again, so far this year we not shown at a NCCC event.

We're ready for the PORT Canavaral show this week end and it is a NCCC event. And the C5 classes are broke down. Got a fightin chance this time.:lmao:

Nice meeting you folks

I enjoyed the Altamonte show as well. I got a 3rd place "dust collector" in the C-4 category, but the real fun was meeting some new people. It was only my second show, and I did learn alot...like not to leave water spots on my windshield wiper arm..:banghead: Not sure if I'll be able to make it to the Port show...got to study for a CPA exam on Monday.

Gary
