Any Handgun Collectors?

Ok, what're your top five choices (they need not be ranked, tho' if you want to rank, put a number next to each one) for the finest handgun. Heck, I'm easy and won't even ask why, but might comment if you put a Taurus Judge on that list!:D:D

Here're mine:

FNH 57
Colt 1911(A1)
Colt Python 4"/Royal Blue
S & W 617-4 (.22)
S & W 460 and 500 (I know, that's 2)

Hummmm that's tough

I'm not a gun nut but have proudly and safely carried (most) of these through my career

S&W model 586 4" wheel gun (357 cal) still love this gun
S&W model 4506 (45 cal)
Glock model 22 (40 cal)
Walther PPKS (380 cal)

and last and by far least was the S&W model 5906 (9MM)

I'm not a collector but I do own a Colt Python 6" and a Springfield Arms model 1911. Both are very fun to shoot, especially the Colt. It's one of the smoothest handguns I've ever fired. I used to own a Taurus PT92. It was OK but not as much fun as the Colt.

Not collector here either...Have owned Colt Python 357 (12") in past as well as Mossberg shotguns...Now just have Makarov and happy with it...

Smith & Wesson 19-3/6" .357 mag.
Springfield 1911 A1 GI .45 ACP
Smith & Wesson Snub .38 special
I'm still working on # 4 & 5....but my wife wants new furniture. :banghead:

I wasn't aware that Colt made a Python with 12 inch barrel. I was collecting them for a while and got up to 37 or so. Sold all of them off recently, except a blued 8 inch model for plinking, and a Double Diamond special edition that Connie gave me for an anniversary present a while back.

I had about a 100 guns at one time and have been selling them the last few years.

Yeah, I went OVER that number before I decided to whittle it down.

As for what my favorite would be, that's hard to say, as it depends on a lot of factors. If I wanted to grab a gun for serious "business", I would probably grab my FN-FAL Paratrooper. For squirrel popping, my Remington 597. For impressing the natives, well, probably one of my Barretts would do. For CCW, I use a Glock 33. If I would want to punch holes in paper, well likely I would grab the AR10 in .243 or the Winchester 70 heavy barrel in .220 Swift.

So like I said.... It depends..... :shrug01:

I'm 70 this year and I hv a similar problem! I considered brokering or selling on one of the website but too much trouble at least fr me so decidex screw it when i'm dead aint gonna give a darn! I hv also been stockpiling ammo!

OK lets see. I'm willing to trade hand guns (some) and several English WWl and WWll guns for an AR or M16. Any takers?

I've had quite a few myself, but of note was a Ruger Super Redhawk .44 mag with 7 1/2 inch barrel. Too big to carry around though. I also have a Makarov that I carry off duty. My duty gun is a Glock 21.

Maybe Time For Some Pix?

First of all...regarding the .50 cals.....WOW!!!
Can I hang out at your house when the S@#*& hits the fan?
I used to have a single shot .50 BMG and I'm still kicking myself for selling it years ago.
I would love to get another big .50 one day.
Here are just a couple of mine.
My go to gun right now would have to be this one:

Pretty indeed! Seems guns, cars, motorcycles, and usually some other exotic stuff (RV's, trucks) can indeed provoke/invoke some joyful [visual] moments. Heck, sometimes I just 'stare' at the beauty of the LS3 engine under the hood. The anti-gun crowd sees a gun as perhaps weapons of destruction, mayhem, war etc. I see the beauty of gorgeous lines (ok, excluding some of the polymer models:D), magnificent springs, levers, machining, that are just a joy to behold, and easily forget about the 'other stuff'.

Here's a good example of a motorcycle that by all styling considerations should be considered UGLY, yet is one of BMW's best selling models! I think 'great guns' have a certain look. As I said earlier, most polymers while functionally excellent, aesthetically IMO are kind of uhhh, ugly.

I still would love to have any of those Barretts in my arsenal. One day, she will be mine.

My Big Concern, Among Many...

Well, my only concern about these great threads, and you could look at it two ways:

1. We've now tipped our hand to the bad guys as who owns [good] guns
2. Keep away from these mutha's cuz they've got guns and [may] know how to use them?:D:D

I see the Eotech ads and read about them, and they look a lot like a couple of Bushnell Holosights I bought in the '90's. Did EOtech acquire technology, or what. Obviously I have done no research.

Dang, bringing out the big iron, I may have to bring out the Armalite AR-10.:D

That's OK. I have two gun vaults. One of them has about 30 lbs of black powder in an open cannister inside. So anyone trying to use a cutting tool to get into it will have body parts spread out over three counties when the sparks hit the powder. :hehehe:
