Any other golfers here?

I started to take lessons last summer but still have not gone out on the course. I've been reluctant because I'm not very good and I wouldn't know what to do if I went out there and I don't want to get in the way of people who know what they are doing.

After reading some of these posts, I feel better about giving it a try. I just need to be brave...

Find 3 friends and go have fun. If you are lagging behind because of scenic golfing, just be courteous and allow others to play through. You will have fun!

Playing can be fun whether you're good or not. I used to go to the course alone and just ask the starter to put me in a group that had less than 4. The folks I met were pretty decent, even though I stunk. Just remember, there are no TV cameras out there and the odds of being paired up with Tiger Woods are pretty slim. Just have fun.:yesnod:

Well there you have it...

I've never been either ynke, but I've been thinking of giving it a whirrl to see if I like it. It is a pointless, rediculous, arrogant, elitest, non-sport for the most part. But getting out and enjoying the scenery with friends sounds like it could be fun :)

Why don't some of us from this forum get together, go to a public (or private course if someone can swing it) and golf it up, put back a few beers, do lunch or whatever?

In Weirsdale?

Which cattlefield do you wanna meet at? Name the time and place!

Yes, Weirsdale is just a speck of a place. It has a Kangaroo (gas station), fire dept, an orange plant, you get the idea. I'm realy not sure why it's considered a town!
It's really a nice quiet place for the most part. Trouble is the surrounding area is booming! So much for peaceful.
Anyway, we're surrounded by or right near bigger towns, Ie.. Leesburg, Lady Lake (the Villages), Ocala etc

Look the area up, it's quite populated, and it's getting bigger! I'll also say this..The land isn't cheap around here (where I am) either. People from all over the world, Including the southern part of FL. retire in this area big time!
There is a newer member on this forum that lives in a "Fly In" subdivision just up the road from me. Yeah, the dude does acrobatics in his plane over our house, pretty cool actually!.
Just wanted to clear up any misconceptions, of where it is I live. Yes there are Cows, lots of Horses and Ranches etc. But we're not all backwoods, deliverance type folk:D !!!
EDIT:I only mentioned the newer member, in the event he decides to chime in.

There a nice set up at the Del Webb on 441, and Stonecrest has a nice layout too.

I have not played Del Webb, but have enjoyed playing StoneCrest, and there are courses, all around Leesburg, not forgetting Harbour Hills. If anyone is interested, we just need. how many want to play, date and time, and about 2 to 3 weeks to line out the course. All of Florida is growing and Weirsdale is also, will you like C/W music then you all need to check out the Orange Blossom Opry in Weirsdale, good entertainment at a reasonable price.

I love the game but due to back problems, I'm only playing 2-3 times a week instead of my previous 6-7 times. My handicap has gone from a 2 to an 8.:ack2:

I started golfing 7 months ago and got hooked BIG TIME. I just shot my lowest score a few days ago. 102. Where do you play at? I usually play at NAS but hit Bent Creek, Cimmaron, and Jax Beach

Yes, I play and when I'm not at work, which is about half the year, I can track down a few buddies to play a few rounds with.

The problem is that most of them think like Andy here!

I loove the game, have played for 30 years, never had time to practice enough to get my handicap into single digits but I will play bogey golf on most courses...
