Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. Boring yes, not enough posting in the roadhouse.
Well.............. talk is down on most of the other forums I frequent as well.
I don't think that ANY of you guys out there (gals too! :thumbsupare boring
at all! Seems like a BUNCH of the prodigious posters from back when have moved
on to other things, and we're left with just the "occasional" posters. Like Ken, I
check in AT LEAST twice a day to see what's happening as well as to get my much
needed fix on the "Saga of the C5Z", and have gotten complacent about posting.
Dotty and I will be back in Florida in November (15th thru the 27th) and wouldn't
mind having a get together with whoever wants to show up. Weekends would
probably work better for most people, but for us "retired" and "on vacation" people,
( like Ken and Rich and me), weekdays would work just as well. Anybody out there
listening???? Heck, we could find someplace up around Gainesville to just meet
for lunch and "re-aquainting" ourselves with old friends as well as meeting new ones.
I'm up for something like that............ :thumbsup: ..... anybody else????:shrug01:

Still thinking about meeting up in Micanopy while you are down here? Maybe a thread in the EVENTS section might make this more visible to other interested parties.
Extreme or not, if it gets to the point where the only thing going on here on this site is for me to have to spend my time banning or deleting spammers, the choice will be to just allow them to have their run here, or shut it down. So what would YOU do if that was your decision to make?

Seems like there should be a more automated way to dispose of this trash in these days of high technology.....I guess I don't understand enough about how this works. I used to get a small amount of spam in my email. And then right after the local elections(in which I supported an unnamed new constitutional officer in an editorial) last year I had an influx of 20-40 spam emails a day for two or three months. Then it tapered off but as of last week i'm getting 50+ spam emails a day.....:shrug01:
Actually there is a cyber war going on, that most people are completely unaware of. Mostly from China.
The following is a list of IP addresses that are currently banned from this site:
Most of them originate in China. And that list is only the latest. I have to wipe it out and start over again every now and again because blocks of IP addresses will change ownership periodically. So an IP address that was from China two years ago might be located in England now. And vise versa.
The spammers appear to have an inexhaustible supply of IP addresses at their disposal, and the garbage they post is not actually intended to try to sell anything at all. It's designed to try to flood and clog the internet. So email is only a part of the entire picture. They are also attacked every website that has any sort of sign up procedure, or anything at all whereby someone on the internet can post messages there.
Vbulletin has internal spam blocks, but the are apparently easily defeated. Which apparently is the case with any defense someone comes up with. Eventually the spammers will figure out a way around it.
So obviously if this site just isn't worth keeping running because participation has just died off to nothing, well, then what is the point of keeping it running?

Hi Rich. I've been incognito for awhile but I'm back. Haven't been on computer much with websites and such. It was nice to read some of the posts again and see who's doing what.
Keep the site going if you can. I do enjoy it as you can see from the number of my posts.

No telling how long I'll keep plugging away at this, though. Heck, sometimes I'll start to post a question about something myself, and then think "what's the use?" Not like I'm likely to get any answers from anyone here, much less ANY repsonses...... And this is MY own site!
I'm sure if I put a Corvette or general muscle car forum on my FaunaClassifieds.com website, I would get a heck of a lot more responses than I do here.
So if you all want this site to still be here, you have to PARTICIPATE. Otherwise just what the heck am I bothering with it for? Just to have the pleasure of banning a rash of spammers every day? :nonod:

My son and I took the '03 to Ft Myers for his travel baseball team tournaments this weekend. Great father and son time, and the Vette got a bit of a work out. 8 hrs to/from, and about a hundred more miles around the Ft Myers area to/from the hotel and the different fields.
Same this coming weekend but in Kissimmee- a bit closer.
Apparently so..........
I broke out the pressure washer and cleaned up the screen enclosures on the pool and the back porch. Then Connie has been watering all the fruit trees so they don't die from the drought we are having.
And I suppose everyone is getting tired of the same old videos I make up when test driving my car with the new tunes, so why bother?
This site is about to be lurked to death. :shrug01:
