So I originally wanted to get Connie's C6 delivered before the New Year. That didn't happen. So maybe Tuesday....... Nope. The dispatcher for Supreme Trucking (?) and Tommy at MacMulkin said today (Wednesday), DEFINITELY. It will be here right after lunchtime.....

3:30 came and went to I called the dispatcher and she gave me the phone number of the driver. His brakes went out the other day. Not sure when exactly, because after he picked up the C6 in New Hampshire, he then drove to Maryland, then to Virginia, then back up to Pennsylvania. He said it would DEFINITELY be here tomorrow (Thursday). So I asked him where he is RIGHT NOW. Elkton, Maryland......

With the cost of fuel I guess they have to run as many places as they can. My Dad & my brother both drive truck and I wouldn't want their job.
Hope to see some pic's tomorrow!

PS - flyers arrived today. I will start passing them out. Thanks!:dancer01:

Oh, I'll be REAL surprised if I get pics by tomorrow. That guy has a 16 hour drive ahead of him to get down here and I believe he said he has a stop along the way to drop off some vehicles. If he shows up after nightfall, then I will have to tell him he will have to wait until Friday duriny daylight before we sign off on it. I am not going to inspect the vehicle for dings or scratches at night and then sign off on it being A-OK.... Not sure how that will sit well with the rest of his schedule, but no, I really don't want to get left holding the bag if there was damage during transit.

Not to mention that we have one of our employees coming in Thursday evening....

So if he hasn't left by NOW, pushing the speed limit envelope, and making minimal stops, that just is not going to happen.

Let me know if you run out of the flyers. Still have lots more here....

Thanks!

Yeah...... The driver was supposed to call before noontime to let me know when he would be hear. Of course that didn't happen. :ahh:

Quite honestly, I would have to say that my buying a car like this out of state and having it shipped down to me was not the brightest idea I have ever had. :badidea: :banghead: :badidea:

My mom always said "Good things happen to those who wait".
But that is better said than done. When I was waiting for my '06, days were like weeks and weeks were like months.
Hang in there. Hope everything works to your (and Connie's) satisfaction.

Waiting I don't have a problem with. Being lied to or otherwise having the goalposts moved around is what bothers me. I waited around all day yesterday for the phone call telling me the guy was nearby and needed a place to unload the car and meet with me. I waited all morning for the guy to AGAIN call today........ I could make NO plans yesterday nor today to do a damned thing away from the house, because of the anticipated phone call. Yeah, that sort of thing DOES gripe me.

If this sort of thing continues, I would not have a problem at all telling the driver to take the car back to New Hampshire and explain to the dealer why he lost a $40K sale for them...... I just do NOT like people jerking me around.

Well the driver called around 4:30 or so. He said he was planning on being in this area sometime between 9 pm and 10 pm and wanted to know if I would be around then. I told him I need to inspect and sign off on that vehicle, so I didn't want to do it in the dark. So he apparently is going to be spending the night and Connie and I will run by there around 9am tomorrow.

One comment he made had me grind my teeth a little. He said "You know, your car cost me $75 today." And I asked him how so. Apparently he had his truck overweight by 2800 pounds because of the way he had to stack the vehicles in it. I'm still kind of puzzled about how that is MY fault. I certainly do hope he doesn't think I'm going to duke him that $75 tomorrow.

But it's supposed to be rainy from now until about the year 2012, from the way the forecast looks, so trying to give it a good eyeball looking for dings or scratches incurred during transport is going to be a challenge. And there goes my chance to ever claim "My Corvette has NEVER been driven in the rain!" :rofl1: But I guess I DO need to test the windshield wipers.

Going to seem kind of weird driving around Tallahassee with a New Hampshire temporary tag, though....... :shrug01:

Suck it up and get it wet! It's not a trailer queen.:D

A temp tag from NH. You should see the looks I get for having a FL tag with OLEAN NY on it. It is my home town and does get others from the area to introduce themselves.

Glad the time is locked down. Enjoy the ride! :dancer01:

Well, at least it's finally in the state! Hope it goes well for you tomorrow. Maybe there will be a break in the rain and you'll get to inspect it to your satisfaction. Who is going to orient you to the C6 options, the truck driver? Guess you'll be reading the owners manual from cover to cover, huh?
Anyway, it's here and you'll have it soon!!!!!!!! :dancer01:
Hope Connie really enjoys HER vette :yesnod:
I want to see lots of pictures when I get home from work tomorrow night

Actually we watched the C6 DVD tonight over a bowl of popcorn. So I think we can at least start it and get it home. So they want us to go no faster than 55 mph for the first 500 miles? :ack2: Boy, THAT is going to be a tough one....

Hopefully the guy made it to Florida and is sacking out there in his truck. That's what he said he is going to do.

Weather forecast is 100 percent chance of thunderstorms and rain on Friday..... :ack2: Looks like we're going to be inspecting it in the rain.... Oh joy....

Well Connie and I picked up the C6 this morning. Miraculously the rain was all around us according to the radar map, but we were spared. Since the car was still on the trailer, I was able to really give it an eyeball looking for any problems. Nothing. No marks on the lower edges of the front and rear bumper fascias. Nothing on the front air dam spoilers. No nicks, no scratches, no dings, no imperfections.

Had 4 miles on the odometer. Connie wanted me to drive it home, since I was the experienced "Corvette driver" of the family. Which was probably a good idea. I did notice that the transmission slipped a bit between first and second gear for the first mile or two, but then straightened itself out. Probably just breaking in a little bit.

The ride is VERY smooth and comfortable, compared to my C5Z. Not that the C5Z is uncomfortable, just the ride is definitely stiffer because of the Z06 suspension. Handling seems substantially different to me. Cuts corners a lot sharper, probably because of the shorter wheel base.

I'll tell you though, it was KILLING me to keep it under 55 mph! Only got 480 break-in miles to go............... :mah:

Wish I could have gotten some of the optionals as separate line items, though. I miss the HUD, and would have liked to have gotten the rear view mirror with compass and auto dimming. Memory for the seats would have been nice as well. But there were just too many things I would have had to pay for with the 3LT package that I really didn't care one way or the other about getting, that talked me out of getting that package.

The silver color looks pretty good, but I think the darker paints just have more of a glossier reflective look to them. Tomorrow I'll wash the car for the first time (if it isn't pouring out) and give it a through going over. From the way the weather forecast looks, it may be a while before we see sunlight here so I can get some pictures of it.

Anyway, I'll write more about it as I get more time behind the wheel....

:dancer01: Yeah baby! :dancer01:
Glad the weather held up for you, I mean Connie. :hehehe:
I look forward to the pic's in the near future.
Enjoy the ride, at 55 :ack2:

Congrats !!! You finally got it. :dancer01: I wonder how many folks who get the NCM delivery REALLY keep it under 55 on the drive home??
Anyway, we want an update and photos when available.

Congratulations Rich :dancer01: ! One of these days I'd like to have one on every "C" model, maybe a 57, 67, 71, 96, my 02 Z, and a future C6/C7, whatever's to come. I love Corvette's. (I can't believe I just typed that)..........Tom :)
Now

Man, I'm getting more jealous by the day. Might be time to upgrade a bit to a C-6.:thinkin: Congrats Rich and Connie. I'm glad your new baby arrived undamaged.
