• Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. So if you need help figuring it out, here's the thread you need to take a look at -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3581 Thank you, everyone! Rich Z.

I guess it's just in those firefighter types to come to the rescue:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I tossed a serpentine belt on the 87 today at Himes and Waters Ave. Muscled it into the Albertsons parking lot (thank God for shade trees!) assessed the damage.

And of course, I didn't have a damned breaker bar to move the idler oulley!!!!

Call to Carlos and in 15 minutes, he's on scene, tools and gloves in hand. Off with the old, got a new one around the corner at Advanced Auto and reinstalled it in a couple of minutes:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Next purchase? a 1/2" drive and breaker to put in the vette!:hehehe:

Thanks again Carlos....I owe you bro:wavey:

 Now that's a friend! Good going :yesnod:
Breaker bar is definitely a must. On the '92 it had a special belt with grooves on both sides, special order. I always had a spare in the car after the first time the belt shredded .:nonod: I wish I'd had a friend like Carlos then!

Reminds me of that country tune: YOu find out who you're friends are...

I'm going to get a extra belt, some more tools and a few other things I think I'll need. Then I'll buy a damned trailer to put it all in and I can haul it around behind the vette:rofl1::lmao:

Glad you had someone to help you out.

Any idea on what caused the belt to get thrown?

Join us at "Corvettes on the Circle" this Saturday at St. Armands Circle. We can all get together for a drink at one of the many beverage stops around the circle. :dancer01:

You're on Lady and I'll pass it on to Carlos as well:thumbsup:

Rich, I don't know? It looks like everything is lined up. We (Carlos adn I) installed the smog pump delete pulley a few months ago (just after we all returned from St. Augustine) and it's been fine.

I'm going to watch it and see how things go? IF it does it again, it's off to Andreh or Gregs (or Tracy if I'm in Bradenton/Sarasota) and have it checked out:thumbsup:

Reason I asked is because I had my belt thrown when Greg was taking it for a test drive. Cause was the dampener coming off the crankshaft. So the belt coming off was a warning of something worse getting ready to happen....

I went over it today with one of the guys at Andres. It appears to be fine. Looks like the old belt was, well, just that..old...
