Brotherhood help!!!!!

Shows what a great site this is....great offer to help also!

Yessir! I was up past 3am last night remoted into Junk's computer pulling the files of the of GM Service Manual and uploading them to my ftp site.

This is the biggest reason I love this place and another reason why for example I hate the thirdgen website for my Trans Am. Here, we get mature and helpful answers even to the dumb questions. The dumbest questions get no answer.....fine. Over there, extremely immature and stupid reactions to real problems b.k.a. "I don't know what I'm talking about!"

Glad you got the help you needed my friend. :

Hope you got the problem solved, and thanks to everyone who helped:thumbsup:

This IS a great place isn't it:D

Well the problem is solved temporarily anyway. Like I said, yesterday it behaved.

I don't drive it everyday. I was just real careful in shifting in between the gears rather then flying through them.

I have to ask this on behalf of everyone else that is thinking this...

You have an Auto,.... what gears could you be flying through?

Hey Softtail, sorry it took me so many days to get back.

Yes, I have an Auto. What had happened was almost as if the shifter was literally gliding across without locking into anything. Finally after about half an hour it was able to lock back into park and I was able to shift it through all gears R, N, D, etc. and drive off.

I have been very careful since this happened, making sure not to carelessly just throw my car into drive and carefully making sure all gears engage but the problem I have noticed recently that it's hard coming out of park and into reverse. Also, another problem has been it's occasionally not going into park and of course if I take my foot of the brake, the car rolls forward/backwards. After going back into reverse and then back to park it parks like it's supposed to and yes, as a precaution I have been using my e-brake.

Also if it means anything, when you got out of reverse and into neutral or any other drive, you can hear the shifter spring forward. Let me paint a mental picture. You press the button to shift and it locks into gear. Now imagine doing that but when you let go of the shifter knob or even just hold it softly you can feel it spring (best word I can describe it with) forward about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch. I honestly don't know if it is the shifter cable or just something within the shifter assembly itself and considering I can't do much work under the car because of my shoulder, I AM SCREWED!!!!!!!:nonod:

Your opinions; thoughts????:shrug01:

Personally, I would get it looked at and FIXED before the car leaves me stuck somewhere I really don't want to be. I think you are getting warnings, so I wouldn't tempt Murphy's Law for too long....

:iagree:

If you have luck like me you, your car will "abandon" you on the worse night, in the worse place at the worse time.

Don't take your chances too long!!

All great advice but unfortunately with one arm to work with and being on disability, getting it fixed is not much of an option. I don't drive her much so therefore I'm not overly concerned.

One of these days I'll get it to my mechanic so he can look at it and give me an idea what it is and this way I'll be able to hunt down the parts cheaper then he'll sell them to me for. Then maybe, I'll be able to get it back to him for a repair. If not then oh well, it'll have to wait till I get back to work.
