c5 rear wheel noise

I have a 2000 with a clicking coming from the left rear wheel when changing direction. (reverse to forward or forward to reverse) It hast to have a fair amout of plull for it to happen. This a 6 speed hard top. I had a very similar problem with a c4 that turned out to be the wheel hub nut so the first thing I tried was to retorque the hub nut. Had no effect at all. It could be the cv joint but it makes no noise of any kind after continuing to move after starting off. I can't rest untill I know what it is so I really can't trust it untill I do know. I prefer to fix things my self but if I can't I want to have a good idea what it is before I have someone else fix it.

Re-Torque both Axel Nuts to 130 Ft lbs and see if that don't fix it!:thumbsup:I have a 6 sp too,Sounded like the noise was Lt Rear on mine,but it was on the right,sometimes drive-train noise will travel and sound like it's somewhere else!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

The last time I retorqued I didn't go by the recommended value of 118lbs, I just put as much as I could with a breaker bar. It feels like the nut bottoms out and does't matter how much torque becaused it just does't go any further. However, it did lessen the noise but not completely. Now it appears that the nut stops before the correct amount of torque is applied. ??? Any ideas or am I miss reading whats happening.
