• Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. So if you need help figuring it out, here's the thread you need to take a look at -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3581 Thank you, everyone! Rich Z.

already have a plan for this. going to cut the over axle pipe and extend it, then cut the x-pipe shorter to match.

i'm all done. it drives fine. have some harmonics. could be the exhaust that's still just touching on the driver's side or the solid mounts that's ive read about. will get it figured out after i fix the exhaust.

anyone have some stock mufflers laying around? i need the over axle pipe only.

I've got a set of the titanium Z06 mufflers that came off of the blue C5Z that I have had for sale forever now. At least I think my ad for them is still around somewhere. :shrug01:

Welding titanium might be an issue. After all this time I had my thread on corvette forum about this swap, two people finally said yeah we had to cut 3" off the xpipe and add it to the muffler.

So I guess now you might be wondering what ELSE didn't they tell you....

Are you far enough along on this project that you have been able to take it out for a test drive?

Drove it home yesterday. Started at 10:00. Had everything out by 11:15. Would have had it done by 1:30 if it hadn't been for the unforseen exhaust issue. So, it was done by 4:30

Did you have your PCM recalibrated for the new differential ratio?

How does the gear change feel for you?

You have an automatic, don't you? Will the shift points have to be recalibrated as well?

Yes it is an auto. That is the only reason to program the pcm. Speedo will always be correct when you change the gear in a c5. Back when I went from 2.73 to 3.15, I recalibrated the shift tables. Going to 3.42 is close enough to not trip the p1870 code until I can get my friends hptuner.

I didn't realize that. :thinkin: So how does the PCM in the C5 determine the distance traveled per tire revolution?

The vss reads off the reluctor wheel located in the differential. Previous models and other vehicles read off the output shaft of the transmission, which is why the speedo would be off when changing gears.

here's how the rear tires sit in the fenderwell now they are pushed back 1.2"
