Most dealers that I am aware of, their allocations are pre sold. So, unless a dealer gets one of the 500 Premier Editions I am not sure you will see a lot of unveiling events on the C7.

I was told by a New Smyrna Beach Chevy online "Chat" rep that they were getting a few C7s in their dealership- some of which "might" be sold for MSRP.
I never followed up off line so I don't know if they ever did get 'em.

I don't know the dealer you are talking about but I know that NO production C7s have been delivered yet. They have started production and have approximately 600 or so units built. As normal for a new production start up, they always hold production units for about 2 weeks for quality control. You probably will start to hear deliveries taking place in a couple of weeks. But I would be surprised if you will see many unsold units on display for awhile. Most dealers have been pre selling their allocations before they are even called.

I thought it was a come-on, but the dealer's rep did say that they would be selling some at MSRP, and some higher. The dealer is New Smyrna Beach Chev. :shrug01:

I expect that most dealers will be charging a surcharge on the C7s as long as they think someone will pay it, and claim it is because demand is exceeding supply.

This too, shall pass.....

Actually, the way Chevrolet has handled the roll out for the C7s I think has had a significant impact on dealers trying to sell at a premium above MSRP. Of the 3000 Chevy dealers, only the 900 dealers that historically have sold the most Corvettes (not the most Chevys) will get allocations during the first model year. TYPICALLY, the dealers that only get a few of a special model car try to get a premium above MSRP (I am not suggesting that this does not happen with some higher volume Vette dealers). So, by limiting to only the highest selling Corvette dealers, Chevrolet has tried to eliminate this practice. Will it work 100% across the board? NO! But, from what I have been hearing most of the dealers with allocations are charging just at or slightly under MSRP. Also, most are pre-selling their allocations and even with this demand, MSRP seems to be the normal practice. I know the dealer that sponsors our club had been allotted 36 allocations (25 coupes and 11 convertibles) for the first 6 to 9 months of production. As of two weeks ago, they had pre-sold all but 4 coupes and all of the convertibles. I believe they were selling at MSRP and no premium. Also, info off the Corvette Forum, Kerbeck, MacMulkin, Coughlin, and Criswell, all big volume dealers were not selling above MSRP.

Now, there was a posting of one of the Hendricks locations (I don't recall exactly which one) that was trying to hold $5k above MSRP and they got trashed so badly on that forum that Rick Hendrick had a message posted to the forum apologizing for the practice of that one location and that he was making sure that the situation was corrected. Again, does all of this mean that the practice of trying to gouge customers for a premium above MSRP is being eliminated? I would hope we would all be cautious of that sort of statement. But I do think the message is getting around to the dealers and most are responding appropriately. Once we start seeing the C7s being delivered, we probably will have a better handle on this.
