C7 Generation

An excerpt given to me by a friend, taken from GM's announcement of future planning. (no photos available) Some of you may have already seen this, not sure of the release date.

Corvette: GM will market a limited-edition 2009 Corvette producing about 650 hp. The model will have styling cues that separate it from other Corvettes. Pricing will approach $100,000, about a $30,000 step up from the highest-horsepower Vette today - the 2007, 505-hp Z06. Production of the redesigned Corvette is to start in April 2012 for the 2013 model year. Three design proposals have been selected; the final decision is expected to be made this summer. Contrary to some reports, a mid-engine model is not planned; the front-engine layout will be maintained

So what are they saying here. A limited edition in 2009, then that limited edition will become standard for the 2013 model year?

Of course, I could to a LOT with the price difference to upgrade a plain vanilla vette.

I'm seriously thinking about selling off some of my firearm collection to buy this 2009 model if it doesn't look like someones' worst nightmare. I'll bet insurance will be a bugger on it, though....

If the Democrats outlaw the manufacture of assault style weapons again, I'm sitting on a gold mine. :dancer01:

I could live with a mid engine design, but can't justify 100k for a vette:thumbsdown: ...any vette.
A mid engine design, if done correctly, would however be superior to anything we currently have available in the vette world:thumbsup:

Better handeling, better traction, the down side being possible noise and heat. GM hasn't always done well with reducing either:(

I don't care for the styling of the yellow one though and if thats what it's going to look like, 650hp, mid engine or plated in gold, I'll pass!

I prefer the softer, smoother lines of the Z06, the flowing lines of the C5 and if the designer of that black one above ever gets that body kit into production, I'll go into hock to have it done on a C6!

After all, what attracted me to the vettes when I was a kid, was the long, graceful, "swoopy" lines of the C3's:thumbsup:

I'm waiting now to see what the widebody desinger that made the orange C5 has in mind for the C4;) He has something coming out in the next year I believe?

Anyway, that black in a mid engine would kick arse in the vette world and set the competition on it's ear!

Sorry I don't like either and the red one looks to much like a C5
Normally when GM introduces a new series ( C5 to C6 being a
exception) the design department goes to great lengths to
bring new styles to the public without looseing the Corvette
key style points.
The C7 from what I have heard will not be mid-engine so I can
only wait with the rest of the community to see what the C7
will look like. I am sure some will like it and some won't.

It'll be beautiful and like all the other vettes, it'll have it's perks and quirks. Why- because it's GM.
