Can I buy a GMPP plan from someone outside of Florida?

Florida is a regulated state when dealing with assurance products. GMPP's are considered assurance products. Your car insurance, home insurance and extended service contracts are all regulated by the State of Florida.

What does this mean?

1) A local Florida dealer can only sell a GMPP plan at MSRP for Florida, no lower or no higher then that price.

2) Consumers have the right to take their business out of State. The GMPP policy is the same whether you purchase it from a Florida GM dealer or an out of state dealer.

3) Third party warranty companies may or may not be able to sell you their coverage. They must be licensed to sell assurance products in the state of Florida.

4) The GMPP policy you purchase whether locally or out of state can be used at any GM dealership in the United States.

Several Dealers will give very reasonable price quotes and when I was looking... Fichtnerchevrolet had a real deal - also GEICO has Mechanical Break-down Insurance as an alternative to expensive extended warranties (i.e. vehicle is less than 15 months old and odometer reads less than 15k miles. it expires when vehicle is 7 yrs old or 100k miles, costs me $51.88 per policy period of 6 mos.) roughly $700 bucks for 7 yrs.

(1) GMPP plans for Florida owners are fixed and cannot be sold below MSRP, or

(2) You discount up to 60% off the MSRP, or
