Carb rebuild

Ken, the thought just crossed my mind.......how come you haven't posted any before and after pictures of the carb? Got no money left after burying your foot in it a few times? I've seen pictures of a big block looking down thru the carb, and when they get on it it looks like it's being fed from a fire hose! You need to put a stopper under the go pedal so you have some money left over to do other things. LOL! All kidding aside, I hope that the rebuild lasts as long as you keep "Goldie", and I'm REAL happy that you found the problem. Nothing beats a smooth running engine except a smooth running engine that accelerates like a bat outta hell!

Golly Andy. I just came back from maybe a 20 minute drive. Wanted to let her warm up and check idle and see how see ran when warm. Wow, jeeze, golly:thumbsup: and other words too.

She runs like a scalded rice rocket (if you can imagine that):peelout 1:(sorry RichZ I think that's cussing here). I'm sure that the gods faited that gas should cost 3.45.9/ gal just because I put these things in motion but by gawd I'm gonna love every buck spent:peelout 1:

OK pic's attached, note I didn't have a wide angle lens to no straight down shots were taken.

Bad typer - didn't proof read!

SWEET! Ain't NOTHING like a big old honkin 4 barrel on top of a gigantic piece of Detroit iron! I remember what my SS-396 looked and sounded like. Ya just can't get that kinda sound from a small block! I had a buddy in the Army while we were stationed at Fort Devens, MA. He had a 69 350/350 4 speed with a Q-jet. We used to drag race the cars at Epping speedway in New Hampshire, and he just couldn't get it over 100MPH in the quarter. His brother was a drag racer too, and sent him a bunch of tricks for the Q-jet, and it still wouldn't get above 100 MPH. One weekend we drove to New Hampshire, and I helped him take out the passengers seat, drain out most of the gas, empty the glove box and door pouches, take the belt off of the alternator, pull out the spare tire, and get rid of any other weight that we could find. The distributor shielding got taken off too! His first run was 101.3, and you never saw a happier camper. Oh well........enuf of the memories......sorry for the thread hijack! MAN you oughta make a tape recording of that sound so you could play it back any time you wanted to hear it, without spending all that money on gas!
