Cool weather

Wel after about two weeks of mid 90's we got a nice cold front this weekend. Been in the 60's all day here.

O yeah Charlie, this weather always makes me extra cocky and I usually cruise around picking on people:lmao: My 95 birdie loved this weather, as well as the 51

Well "cool" is one thing. With the lows supposed to go down to the high 30s tonight, I think "cold" will be the correct term to apply.... Sorry, I've just never had any use for cold weather at all...

Rich me neither I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and over 20 broken bones from my fighting days.

But if it will stay @ 75 I would be the happiest girl in the world.

Well after 5.5 long months of 90's and dew points in the 70's a low of 50 is heaven. Now the 30's you can keep.

Yeah, Connie is out there covering a few of her plants that are cold sensitive. We can have mostly tropical plants around here except for those half a dozen to a dozen nights per Winter that will kill them. Last year we had a real early blast of cold weather come in that zapped several of our tangerine trees. They can handle a gradual cooling down, but when you have 80 degree temps and then the temps drop down to the high 20s, well that just knocks the stuffings out of them.

Still, it beats the hell out of living in Maryland....

The last 2 freezes killed my hibiscus trees that I had been trunk training forever. That sucked, killed everything except for my peach tree.
The summer didn't seem that long to me. I was sick and inside for almost all of it so I missed it. This cold snap took me by surprise.

Well actually Spring was real slow getting here this past year. Then it jumped right into summertime. I can remember in the Spring some people joking that Obama has saved us by fixing global warming..... :lmao:

Then we had 8 or 9 straight days where the highs hit triple digits real early in the summer. Pretty unusual here from what we've heard.

Not to mention that this was the wettest year we have seen since we moved here. And thankfully the quietest for tropical storms and hurricanes.

The other night we had a hellacious storm front move through and quarter to five in the morning we both woke to the sound of hail beating on the roof of our house. Connie jumps up saying "MY TRUCK!!". I had to pull her down otherwise she was getting ready to run outside. To do what, I don't know, but she was panic stricken thinking her truck was going to be damaged by the hail. Any hail big enough to damage a vehicle, I sure wouldn't want her running out into it. Years ago she got her car really wrecked by hail that was about the size of a baseball up in Bel Air, Maryland. That sort of stuff could kill someone. Anyway, there was no damage to her truck. Hopefully the garage will be done before something else like that comes around here.

We won't have a winter like we did alst year. I had many mornings in the mid and low 30's last year. This should be a more mild winter and i hope a wetter winter. Looks like hurricanes are out for year as water temps will be dropping.

Today was beautiful here. 70's and breezy. The local news station did a 90 day forcast predicting cooler, wetter weather. We could use the wetter part of that :yesnod:

I didn't know just how cold it got for you guys up there until I watched the news this morning. you were a good 20 degrees colder.

I hope her plants are o.k.

Im making Greg cook me his Carol Shelby Chili:lmao:

Got down to 39 degrees on our porch last night. Connie had the tender plants covered up, so they are OK. The citrus is OK unless it drops down to the mid 20s. Then they aren't so happy. We've actually lost a few trees the last couple of years. Darn shame as those Poncan tangerines are some very fine eating....

Hmmph on the news here they said it was around 31 up yonder were you guys are.

I didn't bother to plant my good stuff this year, I left them in pots so I can tote them into the laundry room during cold spells. My family always get me plants for birthdays, holidays ect, I found that to be the best kind of gift for me. And after losing almost all of it last year I dont want to chance it.

There is a little nursery down here that sells some great citrus little trees down here.

Doesn't surprise me. Not only can the weather service NOT predict the future weather, but obviously they can't even tell what the weather WAS recently, neither..... :lmao:

Do you know what is more useless than a 5 day forecast? Not much..... :hehehe:
