Again, my name is Bob Bryce, Activities Coordinator for Suncoast Corvettes and the Pier Show.

I would like to thank everyone who came to the show, and am very please so many enjoyed it.

In response to some of your questions, we will definitely be having the Corvettes @ the Pier Show on 2012. After that, the fate of the Pier is pretty well set. It will either (1) be replaced with one of the 3 designs selected (unfortunately none of which appear to support car shows of any kind), (2) an entirely new set of designs could be looked at or (3) the Pier will just be closed due to structural concerns until the new design is decided on. In all cases, it really looks like 2012 will be the last show ON the Pier. Also, it is not really clear just how much of the Pier access road (2nd Ave NE) will be consumed by construction and equipment storage areas. We may not even have access to any land beyond the Museum of History's parking lot.

However, we have been extremely active in looking for a replacement location for the show, and have possibly found one. It is not official yet, as the Club's Board of Directors has not voted on it yet, but we have unofficially secured the use of Straub Park North with the City of St. Petersburg's Parks and Recreation Department.

Straub Park North is a very large open park, extending from Beach Drive to Bayshore Drive, and from 5th Ave NE all the way down to the Museum of Fine Arts. It is right on the water and practically next to the Pier itself. It is in visual sight of the Pier and the Pier is in visual sight of the park, as you can see from the below photos. You can get to Straub Park with a short walk from the Pier, or take the Pier Trolley to the park. It is large enough for approximately 150 - 175 Corvettes (possibly as many as 200 once we do a really accurate layout) with about 4 feet between cars instead of the 2-3 feet we have between cars on the Pier.

The park is an extremely large open grass park with plenty of shade trees for people, and plenty of area not under the trees for the cars which prefer not to be parked under trees.

Access is far easier as we will no longer require the parking ramps and we will have a larger vendor area.

Here are a few photos of the proposed show site (the Forum will only allow me to insert 4 photos).

Additionally, we are looking into adding yet another class. If we do, the show will have Stock, Modified, Custom and Participant's Choice. You will have your choice of either being judged or being in participants choice at registration.

Again, none of this is engraved in granite yet, but it is definitely etched in sandstone! But, rest assured, we will have a Corvettes @ the Pier Show even after the Pier is undergoing reconstruction, and it will have the beautiful venue that we and so many others have come to enjoy, waterfront on Tampa Bay.

Again, thank you all for your fantastic comments and I hope to see you on the Pier in 2012.

Straub Park will be a nice location and the food vendors are much better around the Renaissance Hotel. The last two years that we went, the place on the top floor of the pier was disappointing.
