That my friend is a Sorry attempt at a Blend on a Spot Paint repair!!!:thumbsup:You can hide it a Little but the only real way to get rid of it is to refinish!!

Yes, you do know your business. But that is an injustice for a bodyshop to do a job like that, especially on a Corvette. Sometimes people just want to get away cheap. Especially if they are selling the car to an unsuspecting buyer. It looks good for a while, then it all falls apart. The sun beats the hell out of paint, plastic and rubber here in Florida.

Well you maybe right about that, however if I remember right it all started last year when I had to replace my radiator's reservoir because the out side was cracked and was leaking. Stupid me, I wouldn't notice until the leaking was bad and making it's trail under my car and out to the curb but it would spill down the side of the fender.

I wonder how long it went on in all reality until I actually noticed it? It started being noticeable from only a couple of feet......pretty much when you were washing it but the Florida sun as you said, has taken it's toll. I was thinking of Zzzona's idea and going "Grandsport" on it and forget about the scar altogether.

If the stripes will cover it, go for the GS look until you can afford to get it repaired correctly, or have some custom work done.

Holy Cow.... I showed that pic to Deb from across my office and she thought it looked like a reflection of the Sun and cloud edges.

I think a couple more pics would help to get a better idea of the entire area that needs repair.

They make a big 'ol band-aid to cover that. :D

Seriously tho, Get a few referrals and make some calls, do your homework. Check out online mags like Corvettefever.com or some of the others out there. They often have tech tips or complete articles on paint/finish problems like yours.

I think there should be a disclaimer...for most of us....:yesnod:

It looks like the clear coat is failing or has failed where it was blended in.

The last pic looks like the clear is peeling.

The only way to do it right is to have the whole panel resprayed by a competent body shop.

Keep us posted.

"Grandsport"

Alright, some of you may hate it. Some of you may like it.

Here it is. Tell me your opinions. Sorry about the nightshots but hey, I'm a nightowl so.......

It was a cheap and easy solutions to the problem.

Ha! Like I said, nightshot. Body isn't clean.

It isn't overly dirty but not superclean. I can't do too much unfortunately cause I have a messed up shoulder and neck. Unfortunately when you pass your car through the car wash, it never does a great job of cleaning the wheels and getting on my knees to clean them right now is a pain in the a$s!

I like black too but to me the silver just looked better in pictures so I took a chance on it. Yes, it completely covers the damage.

Man, I hate to be a wet blanket........

I think you should have gone with black. The silver stripes look like, well, DUCT TAPE to me.......... :hide:
