Discoloring...

ynkedad

Wassup!!!
I've noticed that there's a white discoloration (kind of faded) on several areas of the doors as well as the passenger seat. Anyone have this problem or know what it's from?
I have all black interior, and leather seats. When you look at the doors and seats, you CAN see it!
Maybe it's from sweat? Although, the passenger seat isn't used that much.?

Here's a few pics that I just took.

On the door...loog just to the right of th button used to open the door. Also look just below the window button. These are just a few I wanted to point out.

I have, what is probabily a stupid question, but I have to ask. Have you tried some interrior cleaner and conditioner?

Hey Ray,On my Silverado, when I would use two different products,I would get a wierd shad,I actually had the White on the letters on my power windows button come off,Need least to say i stop doing that,I'm not sure if I help.

My guess would be salts from perspiration.... :shrug01: Sweat is actually fairly corrosive. Which is why you should never really handle the blued finish of guns without cleaning and oiling it afterwards.

Yes... I polish the seats with a leather conditioner and the doors with a different polish/conditioner.

I'm now wondering...what could I use to restore the color?

Leather can be dyed, if the discoloration isn't just a surface problem. I've seen interior paint being sold in the catalogs for the door panels.

The issue may be caused from body salts or just plain old sun damage. I would try to condition the leather but only in a small spot to see if it takes care of the problem. If the seats will need to be dyed you don't want to have the oily treatments on them as it will effect the adhesion. How old is your ride and how many miles?

It's a 2005 with around 18k I think.:D
I just figured...if it's from sweat, my seat and door would be worse.:shrug01:

Hi Ray,

The discoloration may be from perspiration. You can do two things. You can try clean it with our leather and plastic cleaner and then condition it with the leather conditioner. If that does not work, then it might be wear. Since its a new Vette that should not be the case. Your other choice is to dye it. We carry aerosol dyes in OEM colors. You can use it on, leather, plastic trim, vinyl, and carpet. It does not crack or peel. Many car dealers use these dyes and they work great. I myself have dyed many interiors on my show cars with no problems.Take care.

Discolored Interior

After reading further I notice the Vette is an 05 most liekly still under factory warranty. I might suggest that you bring it to your dealer and get his opinion on the discoloring. It most likely is covered by warranty if the leather is permently stained.
