Well I mentioned it in another thread, but thought I would start it's own and get a sense of direction.
Vicki and I wanted to take a drive back to Captiva and thought it would make a nice day cruise. Nothing special planned for now. Drive through Sanibel up to the tip of Captiva Island. Maybe stop by J N Ding National Wildlife Refuge Center. They have a nice Visitor Center with some neat displays. There's also the Shell Museum also.

For lunch not sure the Mucky Duck is closed on Sundays.

Was just down there last year to complete my fathers last wishes and spread his ashes over the gulf. We went out to Redfish Pass where he fished and chartered as a boy growing up down there.

The Green Flash location was purchased from my uncle's family and the old bar torn down.

The wife was saying today how much we need to go back.

Then earlier today, while cleaning my office, I dropped and broke a porcelin tile I bought at the Green Flash while we were there:(

I guess everything is adding up to a resounding YES!!!! I think we'll tag along:thumbsup:

Thanks,

My sister from Arizona is coming for a visit in September. We're staying on Sanibel the weekend after Labor Day. I'll see what else there might be to do. The Green Flash is nice and the parking is decent. Mucky Duck is closed Sundays like you said. We've got to plan around that for our time there, too. The new bridge opens the weekend we're going. I haven't been to Sanibel for a couple months. Looking forward to the time there. Hope to be able to join you when you come down this way! :yesnod:

I have been to Doc Ford's a couple of times. It is a casual bar/restaurant and the typical bar food. My experience is that the food was good and not unreasonably priced for the area. They do have a paved parking lot which would be adequate for a bunch of Corvettes. The downside is that it is located on Sanibel-Captiva Rd, and it is in a location that does not have a view of much.

If you are looking for ambience and parking, that might mean that the Green Flash might be a better selection.

We will be back in town for this event, so hopefully we can hook up with you for this!

The wife and I went over to Sanibel and Captiva today so we tried the Green Flash for lunch. Food was good, they have a paved parking lot and the view of Pine Island Sound was great. It looked like all of the tables have a decent view of the water.

I hope this helps!

Must be nice to be retired and living in Florida.....:toetap05:
Ditto on the Green Flash. We saw dolphin in the bay when we were there. We went a while back with the Florida Misfits (some of you may know them from the other forum)
