Eckler's 2009 Corvette Reunion Cancelled

I found this on another forum and on Eckler's web site.

Dear Corvette Reunion Attendees,

It is with great disappointment we are announcing that this year’s Corvette Reunion is being cancelled. As all of you are aware, historic economic times have affected you, our suppliers, our company and all involved in putting together a first rate show like the Reunion. Rather than have anything less than a top-notch show, we have decided instead to provide you with some great offers from Eckler’s and Reunion exhibitors during what would normally be Reunion weekend. We apologize for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause you. Should you have any questions regarding existing deposits, etc., please contact Cozette Alley at 321-385-1113. Thank you for your understanding, support and patronage.

Sincerely,

Michael G. Wilson

They probably may have had a better response had they held event @ Celebration or Old Town...

I agree. I know the times are hard but I would have attended another gathering at Old Towne but not a "parking lot show" in Titusville. Just my humble opinion.

They are in trouble alright...

having spoke with 2 former employees...the layoffs at Ecklers' are in full swing. And the employees that are left, well, lets put it this way...I'd pad my resume, and quickly!!

They got themselves in this mess with biting off more than they could chew. They bought a couple of after market part houses...one for Porsche's and another one that other I can't recall at the moment. Simply put...too many eggs in one basket...and like Wall Street, they are treating their employees like sh$t as a result of managements' self induced indulgence. :shrug01:

They have long since quit attending any shows with their dog and pony show truck/trailer since last year and have even sold the pair just a few weeks ago.

Until they quit treating their employees like second class citizens because of their own malfeasance, I have my doubts about ever giving them my business now, and in the near future (if they survive). :toetap05:

That's a shame.

I'd heard all the horror stories about them but then started reading on here where people had been receiving good treatment, getting thier parts in a timely fashion and even the "right" parts:D

I'd hoped they'd made a turnaround, but it sounds more like a reacharound for the employees:thumbsdown:

Titusville is a beautiful area that i get to when i can. Any time I can go there for business, I do it!

Guess there goes one more opportunity:nonod:

Hope they get thier heads out of the sand quickly...for everyones sake!

Personally, I would really hate to see Ecklers fold up. Honestly, if they would do something about their high shipping rates, then I would order more from them. But combined with local state sales tax and the shipping rates, they just push themselves out of the competition for my wallet.

Heck, I even offered them free advertising here if they would offer CorvetteFlorida members free ground shipping, but they never even bothered to reply.

Serves them right...They will pay the ultimate price for their ignorance and unfair treatment of their customers and employees...

:lmao:
Guess they'd rather pay at one of the national sites than cater to those clientele in thier own back yard:nonod:

As ALS said, thier own ignorance (add to that greed and arrogance) will run them out of business:nonod:

Very sad thing indeed....

I also look to the other sites for my merchandise. They usually are the same price and no sales tax. Only if the price + shipping + tax is less then the other sites will I purchase.

Too bad that so many companies with a "niche" client base seem to forget the people that made them a sucssesful company, their customers and employees.

Hey! Ecklers offered to give CorvetteFlorida members 10 percent off if I put up a free banner ad for them! I'll give it a whirl and see how it works out....

How about 10% and free shipping?

:rofl1:I'd settle for 10% and "reasonable" shipping:thumbsup:

But hey, let's give 'em a whirl like Rich said and see what happens?

If they're willing to start here, then maybe they see the issues and will correct the problem:thumbsup:

If GM had had enough forward vision (hell! even hidsight would be good about now!), then they wouldn't be inthe mess they are in.

There's always time for a turnaround:thumbsup::dancer01:

Yeah, personally I feel that if they offered free ground shipping to Florida residents, they would get more attention. I have to see if I can get their banner to work, since they are using a size my banner program won't work with in the rotation I have set up. Got my newer computer back from the shop yesterday and the video drivers were blown up. Just got it back up and running a little bit ago. This computer crap is going to be the death of me yet. One day Connie is going to find me slumped over the keyboard with my head exploded.........

Take it your not happy or something like that

Ecklers is just one small part of the whole equation. The line has to be drawn somewhere...for example, first the financial institutions ask for a handout which they get and now they are hoarding...Next, we find the 3 wise men from Detroit flying into DC in their corporate jets with hat in hand asking for a handout without a clue as to what they are going to do with it...On the second time around, they return driving their signature green cars which I am sure they did not drive all the way from Detroit with hat in hand again begging for $ which they still have no idea how they are going use...Congress gives them a third chance and they are not willing to give any concessions...And keep in mind that whatever money they do get from Bush will only hold them over until early next year when they will be back again for more...The big 3 need to clean house, merge together, file for bankruptcy, reorganize, downsize and right all of the wrongs that they have created over the years...If that dont work then so be it

Keep in mind that these car companies were the same ones that showed the Japanese how to build and market their cars...Why isnt Toyata in DC asking for money? Why are our vehicles being built in Canada and Mexico and who knows where else? Had we kept all of our production domestic, we would have been in much better position. Now that they have farmed out all of the work overseas and it has bitten them in the arse, they want us the taxpayers who they have been gouging for the past 50 years to bail them...I say good riddens to them all.

Why not help out the small companies that are making an honest effort to build green cars (i.e. Tesla, etc.)

Sorry that I strayed off topic...Back to Ecklers...their poor business practices have come back to haunt them just like what happened in Detroit...it is happening everywhere...these companies need to wake up out of their comas and start making some sense. If Ecklers goes south, there will be many out to step in their shoes...
