First Annual Sunshine Corvette Poker Run

Got the 57 gassed up. After the deluge last Saturday at the Fairgrounds car/boat show I can handle whatever piddly-poop precipitation shows up! (The carpets are now dry but the trunk still is a bit moist!

Did you guys make it???? I thought I met everybody from the forum.

Tom (Exile) wish I had more time to talk to you....
Anytime Russ. I'm just up the road from you. When you're at Hooter's on Sunday I'm usually tied up with family stuff, but I'd like to get together at your convenience most anytime. I'll message my number and give me a call........Tom

I'm bummed that I didn't get to meet each one of you and spend more time talking with you. It did get a little crazy at times, especially with the cards...

Learned a couple of valuable details though for the next one. We are talking about doing it twice a year, but in the spring and maybe October, when we can count on better weather. I ended up with almost 30 phone calls apologizing from people who just didn't trust the weather, although overall we did get lucky. No rain though it did look like it from time to time. It just stayed away from us....:dancer01:

Thank you all for attending.

If anyone is interested we have many shirts left over and anyone who would like to purchase any extras, we'll let you have them for $ 8.00 plus shipping...
Just let me know. And thanks again "Vetteheads".....

Yeah, October would be better for me, for sure. But as for the weather, heck this IS Florida. Rain just comes with the territory, and there is NO predicting it at all.

What was the total turn out???

44 cars, 14 (I think) paid registrations that were no shows due to weather, we've filed their applications for the next Poker Run so they are automatically pre-registered and will be mailing shirts to them, and I've fielded over 25 calls and emails from people who had verbally committed but didn't because of rain. Can't blame them, I wouldn't take my car out in the rain.
Tommy and I made the decision to bale on the summer months, odds too great for rain. We are going to do two per year, probably May and Oct.

So if the weather had been better we'd had well over 80 cars.

Over all we're pleased with how it turned out. Sarasota Jaguar asked to meet with me today and they have asked to come onboard as our primary sponsor. Their financial committment was impressive to say the least. So now we have a top flight sponsor behind us. This will allow us to even further upgrade the calibre of the event while keeping the cost the same.

Anyone interested in a shirt, contact me. Eight bucks apiece plus shipping.

We've got over a hundred left over.....:shrug01:

We discussed the poker run at our club meeting tonight. We were all so excited about having a nice time and some of us winning the door prizes that there was interest from the group in the next event. I'm sure you'll have a better turn out as you get this event rolling and evolving :yesnod:

Glad you guys had a good time. Already planning for the next one. We want to turn this into one of the premiere Corvette events in Florida and with Sarasota Jaguar coming aboard as our primary sponsor, it's only going to get bigger and better WITHOUT getting more expensive to attend....
